can a turbo with no shaft play still leak oil?

i just put a turbo on my car with 40k miles and little to no shaft play(the tiny bit of shaft play noticable i was told was normal and will go away once oil lines are hooked up) anyways it still smokes like mad.. and its blue smoke that dissipates rather quickly..

can the bearings be fine but the seals be bad which in turn leaks oil?


my last turbo blew and oil was all in the exhaust and what not.. so i figured it was just that burning off, but i let it idle for a while and took it down the road(which was a bad idea with the cloud of smoke) and its still smoking..
if my cat was saturated with oil could this cause this? and if it wasnt could the oil in the exhaust down pipe and 02 housing cause such smoking? there is oil in the intake and the intake housing of the turbo...


i know it cant be a headgasket cause a HG cant go bad from just sitting for two weeks...it never overheated.

and is it true that if one of the oil lines to the turbo are kinked or shut off that it will force coolant out the turbo?

also there was a gulping sound coming from the passenger side of the engine every once in a while... this a common sound on a certain error?

My Big16G didnt have no shaft play at all. One day I heard the sound of the turbo change so I was curious to weither or not it was on its way out. I checked and no play at all. A month and a half goes by and I was running this Cobra, launched it, bogged out at 4k. All I gotta say was the rear bumper was covered in oil. I looked under the hood, and oil was spewing outta my licp. That was my situation.

After the seals busted, it ruined my center cartridge along with my intake side turbine.
