Hey guys,
So I'm putting a 1g head on my 2g, and I currently do not have a 1g camshaft angle sensor, so I'm attempting to use a 2g on the 1g head (with 1g cams).
I didn't notice until after I pulled this piece (in the picture below) out that it is not symmetrical. It can be inserted in two different ways (one way correct, one way 180° out of phase). Problem is, I don't know which way it goes in, or if it makes a difference. I imagine it does.
Also, I am using 1g cams and they are not drilled and tapped like the 2g cams. Can I just drill and tap it to accept the bolt which attaches the piece in the picture?

Thanks for any help.
