I have a 95 Talon with a 6-bolt motor and 1g head. I have a bad oil leak around the cam sensor. I searched but didn't find much, doesn't seem to be a common problem. I won't leak at idle, but after cruising there is oil sprayed everywhere.

I have a question:

The hole at the bottom of the cam sensor opening, is there suppose to be something blocking it off? There is nothing blocking mine and it looks like it might be feed oil from the head.

Anyone else have this problem? The o-ring on the cam sensor looks good. There is puddles of oil on top of my tranny, so it is leaking a significant amount.

Thanks any help greatly appreachiated.

Just a shot in the dark, but maybe the leak is coming from your valve cover? The gasket often goes bad on that side by the two half moons.

It's hard to tell exactly where the oil is leaking from in your pics and description.

I had the same kind of leak, though not spraying out it did leave a puddle on the tranny housing. Just replace the O-ring on the CAS. RRE had one in stock when I was down there, might e-mail them and order one, or see if they can get you a part number to source locally. Probably will need a curved mechanic's hook (like two bucks at your local Autozone equivalent) to get the old one off, or could just cut it, as it's inset into the CAS housing.

After all, it's just rubber and after 10+ years it'll degrade. :)

My old o-ring did look good, but when I tried to take it off it was hard like plastic, and I had to cut it. I couldn't get the exact OEM replacement o-ring, but got box of assorted ones. One of the assortment fits pretty good. I'll try it tomorrow.

I don't think it is my valve cover gasket, oil was coated right under the cam sensor, none higher up. Plus I don't run a PCV valve and have a open breather, so no pressure in the valve cover.

Thanks for the help guys.
