Resolved Cam cap corrosion/pitting

Hey guys, was hoping you guys can chime in and tell me if I'll be fine. I noticed this small spot of corrosion/pitting on just this one cam cap. I can drag my fingernail across it but it's slightly rough going past that one spot, not too crazy and doesn't fully catch my nail. Metal is not raised, but I do feel the roughness in this one spot

To me thats looks like 1 clean surface area, not many will looks as fresh as that,

If its not got any major deep grooves to trap dirt then its ok, you can use very very FINE grade wet sand paper to take any high spots off or a soft wire brush but dont go hard, you just want to freshen the surface up without causing issues,

I might try one of those methods just to be safe. I just don't want this spot to scratch my cams or cause any problems. Edit:

As long as its not overly deep it wont be an issue, main concern is if its raised thats when it becomes a bigger threat for the cam, even a scotch bright might take the edge of anything of concern then a good clean after,

Im a go ahead and use a scotch pad first since I have one here at my side. Should I just lubricate cap with wd40 first on the cap and lightly go over the rough spot with the pad?

yes always keep it lubed up, you want to not score it, and not too much pressure either, its not alot you have so gently does it and keep checking as you go,

you will not remove and dips nor want to so just concentrate on the high bits you feel

Just got done using the scotch pride and it feels alot better. I can still feel it but definitely not getting suck on my fingernail as much as before.

Looks much better now, its a simple fix to get the high spots Way without damage,

In order to get that out you would have to take at least .001" from it, best to leave it alone.

That's the plan. I have all my parts ready to go and this was the only thing that was stopping me from assembling my motor but it looks good now, thanks for your guys help and advice
