about a month ago when i installed my short shifter i noticed that my cable link bushing(the bushing thats inside of the shift linkage that sits next to the e-clip) was very chewed up and spongy and it has been given me sloppy shifting. I havent found any bushing kits that include the cable link bushing, only the ones that connect the shift plate to the car. What should i do to fix this bushing. I heard of using a skateboard bearing, is that an acceptable thing to do? Or is there some kind of aftermarket thing out there? Any help is appreciated as always.

got mine off e-bay. $9.99 shipped. I dont have the link, but do search under "dsm eclipse or dsm shifter or dsm bearing" there are a couple of choices most have to be pressed in. not hard to do. It also feels alot better especially with short shifter and symborski shift kit. I'll try to find link and post it as sonn as possible

sorry, got mixed up for some reason I had a brain fart and didn't see SHORT SHIFTER sorry its the symborski kit. it includes eight washers, four of which are stepped to fit the ring on the plate. that made a night and day diff with my stock shifter. those rubber bushings suck

I know you're not talking about these, but might as well let you in on a little something....
Here's a link to the cable end link bushings that replace the rubber ones that sit on top of your tranny....
I use them, and they're the sh!t along with the symborski kit... significant improvement in shifting....

no, my bushings are not the brass ones. mine are actual bearings. they are pressed in and are seated flush with the cable ends. in you picture they are held with e-clips Just used the coter pins to hold the cable in place. there is no way those bearings are coming out when I mean they have to be pressed in I mean PRESSED IN! I'll try to find them on ebay if possible. but i don't think aphex301 is talking about these bushings.

thanks for the input everyone. I know the symborski kit is very popular and everyone is hard up on it but i made the choice to get energy suspensions urethane shift stabilizer kit. I heard nothing but good from the people who have the kit. I believe that the metal symborski kit is awesome, but i felt that i would rather have a smooth shifting rather than "clunky" shift that the metal symborski kit has. Btw another reason why i ordered energys kit is because my main problem was not the rubber washers, but the cable link bushing that is attached to the end of the short shifter. From the looks of the pics of energys kit , it comes with the part i need. And if it doesnt have what i need, im just going to try and find some makeshift object to fit.
