I would like to know if it is possible to bypass the wastegate temporarily. I am having a problem with Boost Fade and I want to see if my Tial 40mm External Wastegate is the problem.

If I take away the line that goes from the MBC to the external wastegate, would that work?

I don't see how it could if the spring in the wastegate is 16 psi. It would pop open.

Wouldn't I need some sort of metal plate to block it off? I need to see if I can boost over 22 psi and hold it to redline just once without the wastegate being part of the system.

Thanks!

And you have your boost controller set to maximum for this?

You could bypass the wastegate but you will have infinite boost and you will get a whole hell of a lot more than 22 psi by red line and unless your motor can handle it and you have the fuel you would be fine. You'll need to keep an eye on the gauge and an eye on the road as well.

On another note, what exactly are you experiencing and why such a large gate? More boost you run, the smaller the gate needed.

No my boost controller is not set to maximum it is set to 22 psi or about half way. Not sure what you mean here.

I am going to start a new post on my boost fade problem because I created another post and couldn't fully edit the title so no one is paying attention to it.

The previous owner installed this gate. Is it too big and could it cause me problems?

I'll link the problem that I am having here when I am done creating the post.
