So I'm looking at trading my spyder for a 95 eagle Talon tsi fwd. But the thing is he said number 1 cylinder has 20psi for compression and that he thinks its the piston rings. And he also said that he put a 1st gen cam sensor and crank on it and that it misfires. I'm going next weekend to do a leak down test on it. But I thought I'd get your opinions. By the way ik it looks rough but I wrap cars for a living so the body isn't no problem. Lol

Yeah I mean my spyder is in decent shape, the motor was rebuilt last June and has a gst trans in it. The carpet is missing and it needs Paint. And the yeah the spyder gs came with the 4g64 sohc. And yeah I've been looking into all the really cool options with the spyder but I just don't have the funds to do it. The only reason I'm fine with engine rebuild is my uncle has a 4g63t full gasket with belts kit. And some Hastings rings he sold to me for 50$ a couple months back.

Get a long block in need of rebuild. Then swap it into your car. Those can be had for under 800 all over just gata look. Miller import here in Charlotte can help with that I'm sure. I just don't think you want/should to get rid of your spider. I like the convertible options, benefit is that it's not a 420a.

That being said if you had a rs or gs I would say go for it, But not a spyder. So it takes a little bit to save for it, that's fine. Like I said before it had my car for over 5 years now, I have only recently added little if any power to it. Takes time patience, blood, sweat, tears, and mostly $$$. If you can't spend some on your 4g64 then how are you going to spend on a 4g63?

You know its like I said I'm going to rebuild the motor and wrap the car for sure. I'm just trying to see what you all think is wrong with it.

You specially asked what was wrong with it above my reply. Like des mentioned it really doesn't matter what is wrong with it, the engine needs to be pulled

Bottom line you need to tear it apart. If you have to ask the question like it's a common problem then I'm not sure what else to add. It's down on compression and needs to be rebuilt
