Hey guys, going to be picking up a early 90s awd tsi. What kind of common things should i look for? Also, going to be looking at one tomorrow, guy said the car used to run/start no problem, but now doesnt start just turns over with a new batt. He says he has some vac lines that arent hooked up, I'm thinking some vac line is unhooked or a ground is loose?

Thanks for the help

The whereabouts of the rust, usual spots, underbody, rocker panels, suspension towers, engine bay.

Also, be sure to look for any oil leaks and make sure the transfer case is not leaking cause no oil = seized goodbye awd LOL anywho good luck on your search, just keep looking and looking until you find a good one, really hard to come across.

for the love of god do a compression test and make sure the engine isnt toast. If you cant test drive it make sure its something small like a fuse or something

cut open the oil filter and look for metal and condition of oil, leak down test maybe, etc
