Bushing Install for Rear Axle Trailing Arm 1G FWD

Energy Suspension Hyperflex kit includes the rear trailing arm (rear axle) bushing in the kit so I figured I'd tackle it. As it says in the title... 1G FWD. Here's my problem.

I have removed the entire rear axle assembly and burned out the old bushings, but it seems as if the new bushings (Energy Suspension) are too big. They are about the size of a hockey puck and I think they would fit if I removed the inner shell on the axle.

Am I supposed to remove the inner metal OEM shell even though the Energy Suspension "General" Instructions say not to?

It might be that they are supposed to be a little big and will fit when forced in. Can you post a picture of the bushing next to the hole?
 
You still need to get that inner metal sleeve removed.

I haven't been able to get those darn bolts out of mine yet. Going to have to drop the tank at the end of the season I suppose.
 
Well it seems that there are mixed responses. Removing the shell makes the most sense to me, but I emailed Energy Suspension just in case. I'll post back with any info I find out.

Edit: Called Energy Suspension at 949-361-3935 and confirmed it. The outer shell DOES need to be removed before the installation of the bushings.

Note: In the picture, I labeled it as the "inner" axle shell, but Energy Suspension calls it the "outer" bushing shell in their instructions. They are one in the same.
