Ok I am new and I just bought my 94 Mitsu Eclipse 1.8L and I was driving the car home and I was ran off the road and I ended up in a ditch. So I called a tow truck to get it out, so when he arrived and he literally yanked my car out of the ditch. Well in the process of that he bent my rear axle. No biggy, I went to my local salvage yard and got one off the same year and model and didn't cost me any thing.
Now here comes my problem, I have the car on jack stands and have every thing disconnected from the car but the trailing arm bolts. The drivers side bolt when I go to lossen it the bolt turns but it is caught up in the bushing and it just spins back into place. I have been stuck looking at this for 2 days now and have tried every thing I can think of. I tried using an impact wrench, using raw force with a hammer and wrench but it won't break free. So now I'm really stumped and open to any suggestions on how to solve this lil problem of mine.

Thanks in advance.

There might be a metal spacer inside the bushing and your friendly bolt has rusted to it, making it a pain to get out. I would try a punch and hammer and soak it in wd-40 or used engine oil for a bit. The other way would be to cut it out.

Well I tried that but that didn't release it and the cutting thing I think I won't be able to cut the bolt since it is hardened steel. I'm real iffy about using a saw or any thing like that around the gas tank, gas lines, and brake lines.

Thanks

Thanks, I guess this is my only resort now I just don't know if my saw will go through the hardened steel bolt. :dsm:

I thought the same thing and was pleasantly proved wrong. Use a 120V recipricating saw (rent one if needed) and 4 to 6 six inch 14TPI Blu-Mol bi-metal with cobalt recip saw blades (Home Depot) or the "Torch" blade and you will have no problem. Cut the bolt as close to the mounting bracket as you can (read the article link I listed).

I have a nice Milwaukee sawzall but i don't have the blades that u all are recommending most definitely go pick some up tonite. Thanks All :thumb:

BTW where would I get a replacement part or part number for the bolt if any one knows?
