A local friend is going to be building my transmission for me. He built a tranny for a guy out of junk parts and it shifts like butter, but Tre apparently isn't selling parts anymore. I need to know where I can get shims, steel rails, evo shift forks, seal kit, and dual synchro 2nd and 3rd. Don't suggest I just send transmission off somewhere, because I've already decided not to. I'm trying to promote local builders. Please help I'm running out of time before track day

Yea I see that and I can get almost all I need, but they don't sell the modified gears for the double synchros. I also how none of their parts have any description on them, but I can have the guy building my transmission point out the ones I need. I also didn't see the shims or the seals. TRE's parts section was alot more user friendly.

First of all what year tranny do you have. If it's a early 90 it could cost alittle more for a good rebuild due to a small intermediate shaft sometimes. In which the intermediate and center diff as well as 3rd & 4th gear have to be updated to 92 spec.

For a second gear with double syncro, Lost the part #. Order one for a 95-99. Don't forget to order the double syncro Part# MD745896.
Order a 1st@2nd Part# MD747642 and 3rd@4th Part# MD749416 Hub&sleave kit for a 92. The kits comes with the syncros.
You don't really need steal rails or shift forks, Just don't shift like a mad man! Shift smooth and make sure your clutch is disengaging right.
As for shims, When you bolt the cases together, use solder behild the bearing races to determine witch shims you need.
Seals? never had one go out.

My tranny oddly enough turns out to be a european galant vr-4. jacks transmissions has steel rails. I'm going to go ahead and upgrade just to prevent any breakage. The seals are being replaced, because it is recommended that they are. All the stuff I asked for is being put in for a purpose. I'm going to try just pming the guys from jacks transmissions and hopefully they can put an order together for me.

Thanks. Hopefully this thread will get good info on where to get parts so the next person in this predicament can find parts a little bit easier than I am.

Stay away from the GVR4 input shaft and 1st gear. They are alot weaker than the dsm input and 1st gear. I learned this the hard way and broke 3 of them before calling some well known people (tranny builders) and them confirming that they are alot weaker.

Ok so Jack and twicks69 were definately the people to talk to looks like I'm stepping in the right direction. We looked up the serial of the transmission in my car and it is a gvr4 rs/ Evo1 transmission. I was told has different final drive than the 3bolt diff and that could be the reason for all the torn up gears. We have the pieces I need to get the car ready for the build. I'm just wondering if the front diff is changed out with a different diff will it fix the issues with the 3bolt rear. Any help on this would be great.

Ok just for anyone that searches for something like this. Twicks69 and JackM are very helpful. I recommend messaging jackm with questions and ordering your parts through him. Thanks for the help

Steel rails? The stock rails are steel. It's just the forks that are aluminum. And depending on what 5th gear you have you'll sometimes have a steel 5th/R fork.

I don't think the stock ones are steel. I'm pretty sure steel are upgrades. I could be wrong though. In my build thread after I get everything together I'll let everyone know what I used and how it feels. I plan on adding track time and dyno video to that thread also.

Sorry they are steel they just have heat marks on them and we decided to replace them

Well I emailed out and still NO FREAKING RESPONSE ON PARTS! I NEED THEM IN A BAD WAY!

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead...

Just so people understand, I am able to order transmission parts also if you are having communication difficulties with the other shops -- just PM me, or e-mail me at [email protected]. My website is listed in my profile as my homepage.

Otherwise, contact any of the other transmission guys such as Jacks Transmissions, Jon at TRE, John @ ShepTrans, etc.

I hope that you got your transmission issues fixed by now.

Thanks,
