Building support for a small frame (14b/16g) class at the Shootout!

If this was for the NJ shoot out i would put my money in, but i can't say i'll be able to make it out for a race weekend in Ohio.

Yeah, you're looking at about a 7 hour drive to Norwalk vs. a 3 hour drive to Englishtown eh?

On the other hand, I would be looking at nearly an 11 hour drive to Englishtown vs my 3 hour drive to Norwalk.

I'll really be trying to work out the trip to Englishtown as I would really like to meet a couple of you guys who aren't going to be making the trek to OH. But like you, finances are going to come into play. Got to start saving now haha!

Come on Phil, prepay!! you know ya wanna :hellyeah:

I do, but this year is full of many different things happening and I'm not sure I can make it out there. But, if it's close near the deadline, I will reserve a spot as I promised. :thumb:

It's now looking like I should be able to race the "little turbo" class at the shootout now. A wedding I had to shoot on Aug 28 got moved to september, which allows me to leave for vacation a few days later around the 18th. Which leaves Aug14-15 open now....I'll be sending DB a paypal payment as soon as this is 100% confirmed.

Guess I also need to make sure I have an E3 16G on hand before July so I can get the car 100% setup.

+1... LOL. It would be cool to see a 14b car whoop on all the 16g/sleeper20g cars

I'd rather run an E3 16G and attempt to win, sorry guys. If nitrous was allowed I would just run the 14b, but since this is a turbo only class:notgood: giving up about a half second worth of power is just dumb if you want to win.

You don't bring a knife to a gun fight and expect to clean up. What if Lucas English shows up with the 10.5 @ 130 Auto/FP68 grey 1gB. No 14B car even has a chance against that.

Good point, I guess this is where the mindset between people who are actually going to be competitive and those who are just out there to have fun. It will be fun losing to you though:p

it's going well enough I think to forget about the March deadline. We can cancel that part of it. Having 10 guys already is promising enough for me to commit.

I'll tell you all what, it is going to be very difficult for me to figure out how many guys are in the class come race day because it is simply too busy and this year will be worse because of the autocross. So, what I'd like to do is keep the pre-payments going for the class and whatever gets PREPAID for this class I will pay back 100% of that money for payouts. Anyone who signs up the day of the race for this class will not go towards that, sound reasonable enough?

So to shorten that up, the class is a GO as of right now! ALL money PREPAID before the Shootout will be paid back to the racers in this class 100%.

Sound good to you guys? This will make it make sense to pre-pay because the more people that do the more money that will be paid back out.

The class is officially a go fellas! (and ladies)

Prepays are still welcome since prepays will go back towards the winners in the class whereas pay at the gate will not.

If for some reason I'm still on the 16g at the shootout, I'll race in this class, but I have another turbo setup that should be on. We'll see.

Id love to see Phil's car in person. Hell running times like that he is pretty competitive in the DSE class, in this DST class as they are calling it, he will mop up..

Well, at least he would kick my ass for sure. :thumb:

Thanks ! Unfortunately, I don't think I'll make it out there....

...I do run pretty consistent passes....always have for the most part because I spend alot of time analyzing my runs and talking with my good friend Bullett about many things related to shifting, launching, etc....and deciding on what changes to make for future passes......having the stutterbox in place as of my last outing definitely adds some consistancy as well. My reaction times aren't so great as I haven't competed with the car in years. I've just been running to improve my ET's. Some of my slips are 4.0 recation times especially if I have some loud V8 next to me, I just let em go and concentrate. With the stutterbox, I don't have to search for the optimum launch rpm anymore which will enable me to concentrate on the tree only.

With the light EVO 3 16g cars out there, it would be tough for me to win this class even as well as I run, with that said, I don't care too much about winning it, I would just want to be a part of it. However, if it were a "14b" class only, the ladder of ET's would be more easily comparable.

That's great news Shane! And, I'll give some props to Dave B. on this for his consideration of this class........"gutted out POS's" are DSM's tooROFL

So how are the builds coming? Am I going to have any competition :)

Only competition I'll be is hopefully consistent :D There are a few rumors of some nicely built cars supposed to be coming out, but who knows who'll show in the end. I'm just looking forward to the experience and hoping it takes off so it can stick around a couple years.

Im still at this stage of build:

I'v been sidetracked quite a bit in the last few weeks, blew up turbo & motor in my GVR4, partouts, kid and family stuff. Been insane.

Frankly, knowing Lucas is bringing that ultra consistent low 10 auto car (that also likely cuts insane lights since it's easy to drive) is lessening my drive to bust behind in order to make it for august.

I bet you would give him a run in overall quickest ET, might not have the ability to be as consistent......but I'm sure you'd have a good showing. Wish I could take part in it. I wouldn't be going out to win, obviously as I'm not on a 16g, but, would have been nice to take part in the inaugural class.....not gonna happen though. I'll be anxious to hear of how it goes. Good luck to all in the class!

! what no event in NJ this year. :tease:

This class should have a good level of competition. Remember, "heads-up" racing is a completly different animal than "test & tune" runs.

Dont worry Lucas, There will be some competition. :)

We will be there to support you Nate.
Win , lose or break, getting out there and competing is what it's all about.
