I found a 99 gsx 5 hours away. PO got hit with a lawsuit and needed the money.
It looked pretty beat up.

I bought it, but kept it at the PO house for a couple months until he started complaining. So I dragged it a mile to a storage company. A month later I towed it home.

So far I've been working on it weekends and whenever I have the time. I got a good deal on a HX-35 on ebay.

Some better wheels. The 19x7.5 wasn't my cup of tea, so I went with 18x8.5's.

snagged a SBR 12" short route for $40

I found a girl parting out her spyder. 1.5 hour drive one way and I finally I can get rid of that horrid body kit.

Over the weekend I installed my cruise delete cable, and took the head off. I'll throw in the 6 bolt later.

Keeping it freshly sealed LOL

I have a few thing's left to do until I get rid of the rice and just get it driving. I'm hoping to have that done by the end of the year, but It might take longer. Next year I'm hoping to have everything ready to drop in the 6 bolt 2.3L. I'll be keeping the 7 bolt head. Suspension and drive train will also be upgraded as I get more time to work on it

UPDATE:
I never really have time to work on it. Just enough time to do bits and pieces.

I blindly trimmed an inch from the bumper and cut out the opening today. Surprisingly it fits perfect. Ill add more ducting later to seal the bumper to the intercooler

Here's the latest pics

The 18's are for street use, They're heavy. I'll have a separate set of tires
It has koni yellows with sleeves. 572f/472r springs. I'll be changing the rear springs rate, when I do the suspension/ alignment

Is it missing the drivetrain? i thought you were not suppose to tow AWD just flat bed them?

I got more work done this week, and spent more money

Made a mesh frame for the fiberglass ducting. 1/8 rod for the main hoop and aluminum tube for the bracing. Hope to have it finished next week.

Got the head for $50 and gears for $100. The head skipped time, but the valves look fine. Still a perfect excuse to rebuild it. Just need some dks 272's, and I wouldn't say no to some cheap evo springs

I'm very displeased with the car. I was wiring in the turbo timer when I saw a bare wire hanging. Dug around a bit more and it turns out that wire completely melted out of its sheathing. The worst part is that it's also melted inside the harness damaging other wires:banghead: :ohdamn: The dash is coming off and hopefully that wire only leads to the fuse box (it's a headlight wire)

Also made a bracket for my fpr. It clears everything by 1/8" and I'm using the original fuel return line.

Also welded some on the turbine housing. Welding cast isn't as bad as I thought

Also grinded down the vband so I can fit a coupler.

Finished off the evening by cleaning the compressor side. An old brush and some diesel go a long way

Build is looking good man, I really like the idea of making fiberglass ducting from the front bumper to the intercooler. I may have to steal that idea, for when I actually get some TIME haha...

Finally got it inside. Started fixing that melted wiring. Then everything is coming out to paint the bay.

@ED1380 What would you say your level of mechanical expertise is rated from 1-10. I'm just getting into my third DSM project however, I didn't turn too many wrenches on the first two. However, I feel that now I need to be the one to turn the wrenches on my GSX because this will be the end all be all project for me however, my mechanical inclination is entry level at best.

Around 7-8. I've been helping my dad since I was 10 (he's a mechanic) and I started flipping car when I was 16. I was intimidated by gutting it to this level but the harness just unplugs and taking out the dash is very easy.

What have you done to your cars? I would definitely recommend a service manual

damn!! man that color looks sick im a huge fan of dull flat colors hate chrome! thumbs up for that find, and good job getting rid of that nasty ass body kit like the rims tough.
