So I recently had my 3" turboback installed along with an Aeromotive AFPR. (Don't know if that's helpful info or not but anyways..) My car has been starting to break up badly around 3500r.p.m's on until i let off throttle. It's not fuel cut..because it feels like my car is dragging along everytime i press the gas pedal. The problem has gotten so bad as to where I can't pass cars anymore because getting on the gas doing anything past 3k rpms is almost impossible. Also, I'm not sure if i have my MAF-T setup for the proper settings for 510cc injectors..

I almost 100% positive its not fuel-cut.
I DO BELIEVE it has something to do with spark/timing.
I have already gapped my spark plugs and found LOTS of carbon build-up on them..

Any ideas as to what is going on??

Thanks in Advance!!

Carbon build up= Rich

I think what you are trying to say is that your car is bogging. Set fuel pressure to 37(with vac line off) we have 1g's.:thumb:

wires are brand spankin 1 week old

Im going to buy new plugs today and set the fuel pressure to 37psi with the line off. (Thank you for that help)

Also..could the "bogging" be from anything else or no? Do you think the new plugs and Fuel pressure should eliminate the bogging? What do i gap the plugs to? .28?

Bumping your thread is a great way to have it closed.

As far as your questions, gap the plugs to .028 and also test for boost leaks since these will aggravate a rich condition. Add boost leaks to an improper tune and a base fuel pressure that's too high and the motor will feel like a slug and fall on it's face.

Keep us posted,

Andy

sounds we had a similar problem but i dont know yet,im fixing mine right now, my car would do the same thing and (i dont know if yours did this) but my car would jump at higher rpms and would feel like a slug and while doing all our tests, we found out i had bad compression(there was like no power in my car) and we found out that air was leaking crazily out of(or in cant remember what he said:rolleyes: ) my injectors, so as of this moment we are redoing my fuel system, i dont know if these are the same problems your having but i hope they help

I definately have the slug feeling..but I doubt its my fuel system(just redid everything).
All I know is when I listen to the exhaust from the rear of the car, it sounds like air is leaking from somewhere...not neccesarily an exhaust leak..but a valve leak? I dunno..Also, on some recent driving occasions i've been at idle and heard my exhaust somewhat pop repetitively which makes me think it's something internally? Any help is appreciated!!

sorry about the bump, im desperate.

edit-was also wondering is someone knew the correct MAF-T settings for 510's?

you should get a wideband so you don't have to "guess" at what your car is doing. hard to tune without the right tools. the wideband would tell you what to do with your maft. If you just swapped injectors too, and you messed with your fuel pressure, I would bet you are really really rich.

I have an aeromotive afpr/saf-c/logger/injectors/pump

As i was told in an earlier post..I set the fuel pressure to 37 at idle without the vacuum line on.

There must be something I can do without buying the WB02.

well then what are your air/fuel ratios? do you have a log? Plus you still need a wideband to get accurate afr's. narrowbands suck.

Updates on the problem....

-I zeroed all my turn dials on the MAF-T, then switched the first dial to 8. (what I was told to do to set my injectors up properly)

-All other dials are at 0 at this time.

-I took the car for a ride and it honestly felt improved. (improved meaning i could actually shift at around 4k without break-up)

-My saf-c has been "street-tuned" by my buddy. Should i zero all that tuning out too? And start over from step one?

The question that was asked about logging. Yes, I do have a log, no i Dont know how to get it on the PC.

Base timing...I don't have a timing light but will have it checked by the same "street-tuner" buddy of mine.

edit-Once it reaches the "break-up point," you can see a cloud of black out of the exhaust..every. single. time.

Like i said tho..it HAS improved by turning that dial back to 8 and the rest to 0..but still breaks up.

Thanks for the help fellas, keep it comin!

update-

I turned the WOT on the Maf-t left 3 clicks, and idle 2 clicks. The bogging is GONE but fuel cut is now the issue. All gears but 3rd is the worst!!! Car still has a LOT more power in it..the pull to redline feels slower than it could be..Thanks for the help guys!

Hey there, I heard of some DSM's with there stock M.A.S tying for 3inch exhaust will break-up or fuel cut, because of the drastic extraction of exhaust, but other then that...maybe timing is too far advanced...well good luck

Yea, that bogging problem seems to be completely gone now. I have the gm maf setup with translator..By "tuning" with that, the bogging ceased:thumb:

While the thread is still open and it's somewhat on topic...

Fuel Cut at 10psi is KILLING me!!! This car has so much more power left in it..I know a boos t leak test is in order, but is there something else that could cause this fuel cut at "such a low" psi?
