Brand new to DSM!

I just bought my 1st dsm. 97 eclipse gst 5spd. Got the car for a great deal an it drove pretty rough but was told it needed a flywheel an it would straighten out but after reading countless threads in the newbie forum an some looking over it turned out to be the wrong plugs an gap an a bad plug wire. This car is awesome an I cant thank everyone here for all the info they have contributed. Its still got some work to do on it but its coming along. Ill post some better pics of it when I get a chance. thanks everyone!

I plan too. I just put in my kenwood excelon deck. Let me tell you that some moron hacked up the wiring like I havent seen before. looks like hamsters were living in my dash. Not to mention that there are all kinds of extra wires an things that I have no idea about. Gonna be reading an looking for some wiring diagrams an tips anywhere I can find them.

I bought a book at kragens and i am learning about my dsm. $28 for it. Worth it because i have no clue about eclipses. I just didn't want a honda or an integra.

Someone broke in to mine and ripped apart the console to steal the stereo (even though I had already removed the face of it) and they also stole the computer, then tried to tear apart the steering column to hotwire it and got under the hood to steal my K&n (couldn't bother to unscrew it, just cut the intake hose off with a knife). So I know how you feel about the hamsters in the wiring...

I have the same hamster nest in my console. I might be interested in what you find on wiring. I am shopping for a deck this weekend.

i recently just got my first dsm too, 1999 Spyder GS, for the most part pretty stock, but the stock things are what's pissing me off s. Replaced the seats with GSX power seats ### the cloth seats didn't recline all the way. Now i'm working on trying to bypass the stock infinity amp so my sound system can really flourish

Funny thing that hamster got in my car too . well what i found out that I think is most important is the black with yellow stripe wire or in my case two wires like that have to be ground or your dash lights won't work. The thick blue wire is battery positive. Can't remember the speaker colors. It took awhile to figure it all out .
