Well, my 6-bolt motor, 7-bolt head, and 7-bolt modded oil pump was just finished by the DSM graveyard. I will contact them tomorrow about this but maybe some insight may help.

I had the motor for over 3 weeks, assembled, rebought missing parts, ordered other parts to make this swap possible.

Start-up day was today, fluids were in and ready, everything was ready to go. Started up with my new 1G cas wiring harness i got. Then i put some Napa cheap 5w30 oil in just for a breakin.

Well i started the car up, dialed in the CAS with a timing light, car ran like a dream literally. Let it idle until the oil pressure reach 25psi, I was very happy. Let the car reach full temp, added coolant.

After about 15 mins of idle, I stopped the car, went to take the jackstands off, to go around and finish puting my bumper back on, and get my tires torqued, then i was going to let it idle for about another 20 mins before testing it.

As i went to take the jackstand out, i noticed a puddle of coolant from it over filling, then there was oil. A lot of oil.

In the 15 minutes i let this thing run, it drained a quarter quart of oil, about the size of a paper plate. I then was kind of frantic, thinking shit I didnt just drop this motor in here, and now have to tear the timing cover off to find a leak.

So, i immediately retorqued the oil pan, fixed nothing.

Started the car, oil started drip, drip, drip, drip at 1 second intervals, out of the low spot where the oil pan dips down under the crank pulley, and from behind the timing cover......What a hard spot to diagnose eh?

Im at a loss from where this would come from. I was just warned too about a week ago about the 7-bolt oil pump mod and how they can be leaky by a friend, and apparently they may be right, but not this much leakage!!

I then restarted to watch it pour out, and when my dad went to start it, i heard the worst noise ever, snap crackling and popping in the oil pan like a ####ing bolt might have been in there?!?! Im like wtttffff..!!?

Anybody have any ideas? My friend joked and told me to put stop leak in, thats not for a freshly built motor with 15 running mins on it.

This was my worst fear, my luck is just terrible, considering i bought the car and it blew up 15 mins later, i bought this motor, it leaks a ton of oil in 15 mins.

Lemme know what to check. Thanks yall!!

I looked at the way to mod an oil pump, and it really doesnt seem that hard though...sigh

All engine work was done by Dsm Graveyard, they even did the timing, I just had to put a timing cover on, and all my other stuff, yes the BS are elim.

$2300 i did not do the work myself

needless to sat i will not buy from them, ask for a refund and get one from JNZ tunning, them, Buschur and AMS build the best engines, magnus, ffwd, alot of good builders out their depending on your budget.

Ill call them about it, and see if they will help. I do have a 3 month warranty so im covered, but jesus christ i just spent a month gathering shit and piecing this puppy together...my luck is just downright terrible man. This is supposed to be my DD and its been down for 4 months. Now ill expect another month to pass. I dont ahve money to buy another motor, so this one will have to do.

Call up dsm graveyard thursday as they did all the work and should be held responsible. Yea I would be pissed as well.

Yeah, im never usually a person to complain, i know stuff happens, but i mean...when i saw that puddle of oil i kind of already expected it.

i kind of just want to fix it myself almost, just I know the it'll be done within a week, but still...arghh

If they did the BS Elim. There is a bolt that has to be put back in and coated in RTV...its really easy to forget and would leak oil like you described...but that doesnt explain the noise.

+1 "Call up dsm graveyard thursday as they did all the work and should be held responsible."

Edit:: I really hope they didn't mess up that bad. Ive used DSM Graveyard alot for parts in the past and they have been great, I'm sure they will help you out with whatever is wrong.

Ok thanks, do you have a circled picture of that bolt your talking about perhaps, im more than likely going to pull the timing cover tomorrow. It'lls be bice to know where that bolt hole is....It takes like 10 seconds for a stream to come, so i know its somewhen upper, maybe that bolt you describe.

PS. When i rotated the motor on my stand i heard tinkling 3 weeks ago, pulled the oil pan, it was rtv'd, Then i found nothing??! Used a magnetic extension in the 4 oil holes in the block, they werent in the pistons or anything....So when i started the motor and heard the clinking i think it finally dropped, ill drain the oil and see if somethings in there, i have a heavy powered magnet that will hopefully pick it up and drag it down through the oil plug hole.

I started it once more after the clinking, ran fine for 2 minutes, but still was dripping while i looked for the problem.

Okay here it is a direct Quote and Link to the page its from and picture.

Balance Shaft Eliminator Kit Install

"The pink circled area is the bolt hole for the balance shaft tensioner pulley. When reinstalling the cover, make sure to either get a new shorter bolt, or install the old pulley and bolt. Put some RTV on the bolt threads before tightening it down. If you do not seal this hole, you will have a massive oil leak."

Thats all I can do for you, and tell you when you take the Timing cover off its on the Upper left side of the oil pump.

no, i havent taken that off yet man, i can see it dripping off that ledge i circled, drips through the timing cover, and onto the ground, right near the oil pan too. Im almsot certain its not the main seal, wouldnt my timing belt be like wet?? with oil? Thanks.

If its coming from there then im almost certain its the bolt hole circled in Pink, Need to take the timing cover off and find out. Only other option is they F***ed up the seal at the end of the crank maybe.

yeah, that main seaf wouldnt be fun to replace. I kinda want to drill a hole through the timing cover just to look with a flashlight and see if that hole is filled..... If its open, i can widen the hole, and put a screw in like that...If not, ill take the timing cover off.

gahh its jsut in such a shitty spot. GG for some hand room from mitsubishi. Alright ill tear it down.

What do you have against starting it with no alt., water pump, if that bolt is there?? Even if the mtor wil start on the battery for 10 seconds ill see oil fom somewhere.

shouldn't have to take any of your power steering or alternator stuff off to get that cover off, but if you do it wont hurt it to run a few minutes without those things, and that bolt missing will stick out like a sore thumb

Ok ill tear it apart when i get home from work. Used up my payed vacation time installing this thing. ha

Yeah you gonna have to pull the belts off to remove the timing cover.Take the cover off BE SURE to bolt the crank pulley back on so the timing belt does not come off when you fire her up,then you can see where the leak is coming from

found 2 leaks, hopefully there fixed now. It was NOT the main seal. It was the 7-bolt oil pump modded to the 6-bolt block a little bit wrong. Hopefully this helps...

Does not help the crackling in the oil pan i heard...ohwell.
