Im looking to upgrade my BOV very soon.. Ive had my 1g bov for quite awhile now and I want something that flutters at low boost. My 1g is just to quite! I cant decide if I want the greddy rs or the hks ssqv. which one sounds better and will perform just as well?

Thanks:thumb:

Venting without a GM MAF+translator or having a speed density setup is a big no no. Before you ask why, do some searching as it's one of the most asked questions so you'll find it in the FAQs. Between the two, the RS is better as you can recirculate it much easier. The HKS just sounds like crap even recirculated unless you like the sound of queefs. That's right, it sounds like the car is queefing. HAHA ROFL. But seriously, the RS would be much better for recirculating.

LOL Ohhh my... That one just made my morningLOL ROFLROFLROFLROFL

Like everyone already stated, you shouldn't vent without the proper mods. Just because you want a "different sound" is not the right reason to buy a new bov IMHO. Good luck!

NGR might be the one for you. From what i hear they are loud when re-circ

I dont vent it, I re-circulate. Im not just upgrading bc of the "sound" also if everythinng goes my way I will be able to run 20lbs of boost (with supporting mods of course:thumb:)

Why even change it if you don't care about the sound? I'm running a 1g bov at 25psi with no problems. What advantage would you gain from changing it?

Im looking to upgrade my BOV very soon.. Ive had my 1g bov for quite awhile now and I want something that flutters at low boost so I can surge the shit out of my turbo, eventually destroying the journal bearings.

My 1g is just to quiet and has worked too well over the years without any attention- I want something that needs constant adjustment and disphragm replacement!

Fixed.

Stick with the 1G valve. If you want it to hold more boost, crush it a little or perform the Dodge Garage Mod....crushing takes about 28 seconds with the valve off the car; the Dodge Garage Mod can be done in under 10 minutes if you know what you're doing.

You can vent with no mods, but it works better to have it recirc'd with a mostly stock setup. Also, TiAL bov's are the only way to go, they are the best ones on the market right now.

This site is 99.99% about performance so most replies will say to keep the 1g BOV since you will not benefit from simply changing BOV's. However, a middleground can be reached by installing a TIAL BOV along with a GM MAF setup. Not only will you sound great and prevent compressor surge, but you will add the ability for your car to use a less restrictive intake, which can benefit you no matter what stage your car is in...

if you want the flutter sound at low boost you would like the turboxs rfl. By the sounds of it you want the bov to get a lot of attention. Make sure you get the recirculation kit for it because you need a special adapter for it.

I have an HKS and love it. Holds boost really well. I have heard of greddy rs's leaking. And with out the triple fin insert and the recirculation on the HKS it sounds pretty neat i guess.

Yea, bovs with the cool "choo-choo-tdtdtdtd-shewwww" sounds are nice to turn heads with. But from my viewpoint I'd rather have a proven piece of equipment that works and not something that some high school teenybopper with a honda civic is going to hear and immediately pull up next to me revving his engine...all because he has an APC muffler tac-welded to his stock exhaust pipe. These are the people that not only I, but I'm sure most of you deal with on a weekly if not daily basis. Maybe it's something in the water around here...I really don't know. My car looks pretty stock, except for the lowered stance, and the low profile Magnaflow exhaust with the dual outlets on the muffler. The front mount is anadized black even, and you can't really tell from a distance that there's an intercooler in my front bumper. I have a 1g bov uncrushed recirculated. It's pretty quiet and that's how I like it. I'm not interested in what someone thinks about my car, nor how it sounds. But you're torn between two choices...performance with what you have OR spending money on something that's gonna get you really nothing but cool points at a bov competition. The 1g bov crushed is a free mod that will let you spend that other 200 and some odd dollars towards a 3" GM MAF and possibly a translator...that will let you vent that already effective-from-the-factory bov so you can get that cool sound, all the while saving you from the possible stumbling issues you're certain to have from not recirculating with the proper supporting mods. But don't let what I or others are saying deter you from your decision. I as well as everyone else on this forum am entitled to my own opinions, just like you. Good luck with your search for the chirp.

where did he say he wanted to vent it?

Thank you

I appreciate your opinion but you could have been a little easy on the "fix"... I was always told that the flutter comes from the wastegate actuator opening and closing. Now whether that is true or not is outta my hands bc Im not a "turbo wiz" (as I know who you are) I just know the general operation... How can/will it destroy your journal bearings?

The "flutter" sound you are talking about at low boost is actualy called "compressor surge" it is basicly when your BOV does not open in a timely manner causing airflow to back up and stall the compressor(turbo) which can cause damage to the tubocharger. Not a very nice thing to have happen. Gotta show your turbo some love! stick with the 1G, it has all the potential for holding boost you are probably ever going to need. Sure it wont win any parking lot show off's but hey it's your call. BTW if you do decide to get another BOV make sure to properly adjust the spring tension to avoid the dreaded "compressor surge" well folks thats my .02 take it or leave. :)

I'd say get an Evo 9 MR BOV. They can hold a ton of boost and they are factory equipment so it can be recirculated and reliable. The flange for it is actually just a tube like the 2G stock pipes so it might be hard to find a flange since nobody offers a 2G pipe flange for a UICP.
