BOV Dump - yes or no? Why?

... We'll I've got my pretty much bone-stock 95 GST, with 75K Miles, I put a boost gauage, and a manual boost controller, but I'm ready to start openin' it up. I was just wondering this from the top of my head from looking at the intakes they sell. They sell intakes with no bov dump, and with. What would be better performance wise? I would think that with the dump more surge is sent back to your turbo or something along them lines? The eclipse guys around here have their stock intake piping 'caped' and let the BOV blow the return right into the air. Like I said, whats the cons and pros for the most part? Hope this ain't to much of a newbie question for you... but... Thanks for your time?

whatever you do get the intake that has a spot for the bov to dump otherwise your bov will vent and it messes up your IAC and causes your car to idle low and crappy like mine so make sure you get the spot on the intake otherwise you will have to cut your new one like me

Well if your friends want to here cool noises then then should turn the radio up. What you are talking about is called venting to the atmosphere. I am guessing you didnt know that or a SEARCH would have come up with tons of info. It will hurt your performance unless you have a MAF after the BOV. If you dont then you are letting air that has already been meetered by the MAF out, but the same amount of fuel goes in. This causes you to run rich and like shit at the same time. There are people who have dont it and it works ok for them, so what. It doesnt make you any faster and no matter what will cause you to run rich, so why do it unless you just want to pretend you are Vin Diesel.

will all do respect its amazing at how rude some members are just for askina question..just my 2 cents people also get more accurate info when they ask. It makes more sense than reading faqs so dont insult him..o and btw i want my bov to recirc but i love the noise and as far as i know everyone loves it

I understand what you are saying, but this is the oldest question for a DSM. It has been covered a million times and that would have come up in a search, but like I said, he probably didnt know what key words to use. I have done that many times. Also, like I said, sure it sounds cool and I bet tons of people love it, but other than that there is no performance gain. We all know for a fact that a car that is venting will run worse than a car that isnt, given all things equal. He wanted to know what was best for performance and I told him and pointed him in the direction so he had back up.

Its cool we were all new at one point. To be honest the hardest part is knowing what key words to search for. It time it will come together.

well if you know hes a newb than he doesnt know where to post yet so next time save yourself the response. one thing ive noticed about this site sometimes is just because a questions been asked a million times you expect everyone to know the answer and when some newb comes along that doesnt know any better he gets bashed for it..but oh well
