hey i just turned 17 and have had my car for almost a year now and was wonding when i get my new O2housing if i should get it with a dump housing or not. what is the difference between the two also? i live in wisconsin if that has any thing to do with emitions. plz help

:dsm: j0n :dsm:

recirculating dump tube = quiet
o2 dumping to the atmosphere = loud

do some searches on here for how loud those things get. i was going to do it on mine but as a daily driver, in and out of boost, it's way to loud. i never got one, so this statement is strictly opinion, but i think it's way to loud to hear all the time. for a track car, i'd say that is :thumb:

It totaly depends on what u want. if you like a loud noise that sounds like you have no exhaust every time u start boosting get it or if you have boost creep. i have one but i have a laggy turbo and i will almost never hit boost while driving normaly so it wont affect me too much. For the emmisions, i like in wisconsin to and i just regestire my car in a northern county and no more emmisions for me.LOL.

The dump tube is loud, but it isnt too loud INSIDE the car as it is OUTSIDE. If im next to another car and I hit full boost, Yeah...that b*tch f*ckin screams. It usually scares little girls and dogs b4 it irritates me or anybody in the car.

I got mine dumped, its cool for a bit,but gets annoying after time, unless your just trying to piss off the ricers, they down shift, you sit for a few seconds aand let them gett their distance, then open it up, they have switched lanes as Iv passed before. My next setup, bigger trubo 50-60 trim full garret is going to have the external rerouted back into the o2 housing or down pipe. just want something that does not scream attention like the o2 dump does.

It does make the car louder but the main reason for it is that it will almost eliminate boost creep. Most cases it will eliminate it completely. Some people like them others don't. I'm just about to throw one on my car.

the o2 dump is quieter the more boost u run, because more of the exhaust is goin into spooling the turbo, and not dumping through the wastegate...

is my logic correct?

Also, everytime you shift and that SOB opens up, wont a flame shoot out? Might cause a few things to get singed just a little bit...

when my bf and i installed his Evo III big 16g set up it had the dump tube, and it was really loud, you couldn't even hear the bov anymore. all our friends said it was way too loud. as far as shooting out flames his did that even before the install. he shot out 3-4 foot flames. and it did get a bit worse after the install. but it's been forever so i can't remember. after a while you will get annoyed by it, if you drive it everyday. i had a friend that had a similar set up and he got pulled over 3 times because of his car being so loud. :p

yeah, like i said... in my opinion, it's to loud. hell i boost around town all day and to hear that, well i think would just be annoying

Did you guys know you can attach a Supertrapp Muffler to the end of most dumps?

Makes things quieter :)

Also, how low of boost are you running to open it up that often? I'm a 10psi, and I nearly never boost, let alone hit full boost and open the wastegate.

If you WG opens for a shift- you gots something wrong - the wastegate is dumb- all it knows is boost- so unless you hit enough BOOST to open it, it shouldn't open. All the vacuum, take the load off, doesn't matter, the WG only knows boost.
