does boring my engine like .04 over make my engine a 2.1? i read all over and see people saying they have a 2.1 because they bored over. if im correct it not true youll still be 2.0 just making sure im right. anyone got any information on this? cant find the thread with the facts

Well if you overbore your engine your making the combustion chamber bigger/ you get more displacement. But i don't know if it's enough to bring it up to 2.1 or more or not.

0.040" = 1.016 mm

85 mm + 1.016 mm = 86.016 mm

Cylinder volume = (bore/2)^2*3.14*stroke

86.016 mm/2 = 43.008 mm

(43.008 mm)^2*3.14*88 mm = 511105.8058 mm^2

511105.8058 mm^2*4 = 2044423.2233 mm^2 = ~2.044 L

So no it doesn't make it a 2.1L. Over boring cylinders is generally done as a repair rather than a performance enhancement, and should be kept to a minimum. 0.040" is a lot.

okay thanks just sure i understand bout bore over. so a .060 wouldnt make it any closer to a 2.1?

Ha if you did some serious rounding on your calculations I guess. 0.060 over would bring the displacement to ~2.069L, generously. Minimal difference.
