considering that the exhaust manifolds match for the 4g63 and 4g64 blocks, could I just boost 15 or 16 psi on my 2.4l 46g4 mightyy max if I simply put in lower compression pistons? Is it that simple, or am I in for something bad?

haha no no I know that. I have a 1g talon tsi awd that Ive poured money into. I meant as far as short block internals go and even top end stuff.

well, you can swap the head, and intake manifold, for a 1g 6 bolt head. and if you are going to get lower compression pistons, might as well find aftermarket forged rods and pistons. if you are going with forged pistons, i would get forged rods to.

also, i forgot, i think you can swap the ECU out for a turbo eprom ECU and get DSMlink, i would ask someone with a turbo 4G64 spider about that.

To run 15-16psi you need to do some work. But you would be fine with stock internals for 10psi. If you want to build your truck correctly then swap in the turbo ecu it is very easy and then you will have knock control. With the 4g64 you will be able to put a larger turbo on with out much lag. I have a t3/t4 that spools fine but make alot of power.

considering that the 2g 4g63t and 4g64 rods are the same part, yes it is that simple. If your doing internal work though, and the rods have some miles on them why not just change them anway...the last thing you want is a spun rod bearing or even a bent rod which is very likely if your running 15+ psi on a high mile motor thats been N/A its whole life.
