Hello

Not sure if this is the right section but I’m currently trying to instal my boosted fab front crossmember and I seem to be out about an inch when from lining up the transmission. I have upgraded mounts all around so I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it but was wondering if anyone has any ways to try and get this to line up?

Thank you

That's pretty interesting. Usually a 1/4" or so can be normal but that's a lot. Do you have your old crossmember and mount? You could measure from one of the two back mounting holes up to the roll stop bolt hole and check and make sure that it's the same. You can try loosening the other bolts and see if it gives it enough play but that's doubtful with it being around an inch.

Unfortunately I don’t have my old mount anymore. This is the first time I’ve had this motor in the car so I don’t have a before to compare it to either

Is there any adjustment in the bolt holes for the cross member? Maybe if you loosen all the fasteners for it, you can get it a bit closer, and then loosening the brackets for the other mounts could get it the rest of the way.

If that fails, maybe call BF and get a measurement that you can take to verify that it’s right. I assume they check all that, but who knows.

No play in the bolt holes. I’m probably closer to 3/4” out. If I loosen all the motor mounts and use the floor jack under the transmission do you think I can close the gap that much?

Are those the original mounting brackets you've always had?
Car was a shell when I bought it so everything had been sourced seperately. The transmission mount is what was on the motor when I purchased it though. All the joints in the car have been upgraded to BF and torque solutions.

I heard when you have the poly/aftermarket mounts there is some manuvering that has to happen to get everything to sit

You should check the mount bracket and make sure it's right one

When I originally did my swap (Engine & Auto to Manual), my factory cross member fit fine if I recall correctly. When I got my BSFab crossmember I had to get another bracket from another car because it was off no matter how much I adjusted it. I don’t remember if it was from another 7G galant or a 2GA/2GB car but it solved that issue. I also had to extend the portion that bolts to the radiator support because they’re not made for galants. You shouldn’t have to worry about that part though

Interesting. Do you have any photos of the before and after. Is there a way to check that bracket on my end to see if it’s maybe bent or something

I also saw that bf makes a replacement for that bracket. Wonder if that would also help

I’m currently reorganizing my garage right now. I’ll see if I can find the other bracket and I can take a picture of them side by side

Im auto and i used one that was mocked from a manual and it fit fine. That was josh from true street now known as NDD! I never had to reppace my bracket. Also my subframe in race comes with a crossmember as part of it and thats been installed on manuals just fine and it was mocked from my auto. My auto is a 2GB.

If they swapped it from an A to a B then thats super weird

Played around with a hit this morning and it’s definitely closer but that’s with the bolts somewhat tight and not adjusting the engine so far

Like previously stated try loosening all the other mounts to hopefully give more wiggle room. Also remove front and rear bolts from the BF cross member and attach it to the tranny mount only to see if you can get enough play to secure to the front cross member and radiator support. You might need an engine hoist to lift or lower the engine at the same time.

I’ve loosened all of the mounts but left the bolts in to not loose placement. The rear toll stop was very tight to begin with and trying to get it to line up. With a pry bar between the subframe and the block I can get maybe a 1/4” of movement but im still not close to being able to get the bolt through the bf Crossmember

Does my bracket look bent or is this how they’re supposed to be.

I’m not a 2g guy, just trying to learn as we go here. I have looked on performance partout’s website to verify that the front trans mount bracket you have pictured fits both auto and manual. The rear mount brackets show as different for auto (stamped 005) and 5 speed (stamped 087). It states 087 fits both FWD and AWD. Can you verify you have the correct rear bracket for your trans?

Pictures of where I currently have it to. Elongated the holes on the front bracket. Mine looks bent compared to the other one posted up.

Picture of the read bracket also
