I'm new to DSM's and I have a slightly modded 1st Gen AWD Tsi --- I'm running about 16lbs of boost when the car is running well. Yesterday I noticed the car had started becoming slower off the launch and when boost should "kick in". Instead of the boost throwing me back into my seat, all I feel/hear is the turbo spool (roughly only to 10-12lbs) and the blow off valve when I let off. Otherwise I "feel" no boost. Instead of a launch, it drags it's slow ass into higher RPM's until I shift and I get the same matter in the other gears. You can feel the throttle "hesitate" or "bog" slightly under acceleration. What's the deal, is it a boost leak in the intercooler hose or in the turbo vaccuum lines or something? The turbo is still good if I have spool and blow-off, right? Somebody please help me OMG

Make a leak tester per the VFAQ.com instructions and find out where the leak is if there is one. People also suggest spraying soapy water around where you believe the leak is to let it bubble.

I agree...You can make a boost leak tester for like 15 bucks and all the parts you need are at your local hardware store...or home depot...But yea..sounds like you have a boost leak..But there's a big difference with 10 and 16 pounds of boost..For every PSI...they say it's an increase of 8-10 Horsepower..But yea..check for boost-leaks...and get a pocket-logger...if you don't have boost leaks and your still feeling it..Your probally knocking and the computer is pulling the timing..I've had that problem with my 1g...either way..good luck!! dan

I just looked all over vfaq.com for that boost leak tester... no luck... anyone have a link or instructions? I appreciate it... Sorry I'm such an idiot :D

I would say boost leak too... just to back the general replies.... well atleast on the info given...
