I'm sorry guys. I tried to search and got some vague and confused answers so I decided to try a more direct approach. I tried doing a boost leak test right now and it sounded like the air was going in the tester and then right back out by the turbo area. The gauge on my tester barely moved and it didn't last long enough for me to feel around or get soapy water on anything. Are there any suggestions for what I can do to figure out whats going on?

A run down of issues that have lead me to this point:

new motoguys ecu to replace the old one
new cat and egr to try and pass emissions
new (used but tested) isc to help idle surge
new plugs and wires
fresh oil change
timing set by mechanic and then checked out good at smog place

I am getting bad gas mileage and it failed the emissions test due to high H/C's. They measured in the 500's. It is also idling kind of rough, not looping or surging just rough and unsteady. Also when I was driving it to the smog place with all the parts listed above installed it stuttered, the check engine light came on and then it died. It did this again (without the stalling part) at the smog place before the test and when I gut it home there was no codes stored the light just showed that everything was ok. After the smog place it ran the entire was home with no problems, except when I hit fuel cut while running down a Honda that had cut me off.

I really don't know what to do next and the failed boost leak test that wouldn't even hold pressure is pushing my frustration toward selling the car and getting a muscle car or something. I'd hate to do that since I love the car (even though i have only been able to drive it 3 times since buying it in December) but it would probably keep my wife from giving my weird looks whenever I say that something else is wrong.

Please help I know there is a lot of unrelated info in here but I needed to vent some.

I'm thinking the emissions and possibly the idle could be a bad O2 sensor but how would I test that? Also the leak I though maybe the waste gate because I had to take off the vacuum line but that wouldn't matter if the car was off right? Sorry again for my long winded post but I really need a friend right now.:sosad::barf::pray::idontknow:

First assess your boost leak. Have someone pump/pressurize the intake while you hold your hand around the area to feel for leaks. Then keep testing and sealing up leaks.

Ditto+1. get some soapy water on the joints around your IC, IC pipes and Throttle body, BEFORE you apply pressure. Once you start applying pressure if there's a leak it'll start blowing bubbles and help you find the leaks. Do this first before trying to worry about other tuning issues as they won't cure anything if you have boost leaks.

thank you for all of your help guys. I am going to go to the gas station and fill up my air tank and try again in the morning. I will let you all know how it goes. I hope something positive happens. I need a motivational boost. :(
