Boost leak at 12psi????

Hi, I currently have a k&n intake filter on my car and a autometer boost gauge. I did not install the boost gauge before the filter but on my boost gauge i am noticing that i always hit 12 psi and its a dead stop on that line every time. My question is is it really just hitting 12psi with the filter or is my stock 2g bov leaking at 12psi so its basically making more boost but its stopping at 12psi because its leaking.

because im afraid that if i am making more boost on my stock bov than 12psi with the filter then the turbo will be overworked trying to compensate or something else bad. but i could be all wrong. can somebody clear this up for me?

i have a boost controller but i havent installed it because i only can hit 12psi but now i just thought of the possibility of it leaking and yes i am getting a new bov soon

Both. The stock boost is around 12, and the stock BOV leaks around 12.

if you're completely stock than your boost should be no higher than 10-12 psi. with just an intake I highly doubt that you're car is boosting more than 12 psi and leaking

and if I think I know what you have in mind, i'll make you understand the term leaking a little better.

this is what happened to me:
I had a HUGE leak where my UICP met my IC. about a 4" gash that only leaked after 13 psi. anyway, my MBC was set at 16 psi and it still produced 16 psi.. but only the turbo was working that much harder to achieve it.

so in your case, if the BOV was leaking [ which is probably is ] and you were hypothetically producing 14 psi.. it wouldn't leak to 12 psi , the turbo will just work harder to make 14 psi [ which will be read on the gauge ]

check this out i had to same prob u are currently having
i also have the k&N fipk

with it installed all it does is make the stock bov loud


quick question did remove the bcv restrictor out yet???
removing the would give 13-14 psi of boost

and consider removing the stock bov because it leaks around 12 psi and get all hard piping for the inercooler pipes.

to insure that the stock hoseing does have any holes
thats what mine had in the throttle body portion of the rubber hose

by doing all of this should be able to boost 14-15 psi at the most on the stock T25

im boosting 15-16psi
i really need to get a boost controller because it jumps to 16 every once in awhile :laugh:
