so i hear the best place to hook up a boost gauge is in the FPR line... well where in the line (or which line) do you put the T in to tap it? And the electrical where did you tap into mine has to come on when the car turns on because its a tinted gauge and lights up upon ignition?

yep manifold line. if you use the other one, the gauge will intermittently not work.

Use the line that goes between the fpr and the intake manifold. I tapped mine about 2 inches away from the solenoid and has been working great for 4 years.

ok does the gauge light turn on when the car is on because my gauge face is tinted and cant see it at all when the car is off so when the key turn on the gauge light has to come on also not when the headlights turn on? so i need to hook to the ignition switch but dont know which one is the power wire?

If you wire it to the dimmer switch it will only come on when the lights come on. You can wire it to your cigarette lighter wire or just find a fuse that has ignition power and run your power wire from there.

What kind of gauge is this? Mechanical or electronic? Is the gauge supposed to change colors when the headlights are turned on?

no it mechanical its a JDM gauge its tinted black when off cant see anything and supposed to illuminate when the key is turned on the instructions that came with the gauge say to hook into the ignition switch but i dont know which wire because it dont say on the instructions it jus says power wire to ignition switch and neg to the battery and no it dont change when the headlights turn on its either lit or its not (car on, car off)

Easiest way to do it then would be, instead of cutting into any wiring, to find an empty spot in the fuse box under the dash and tap in there for power. Put a spade on the end up the hot wire and put it right in the slot for a fuse. Wire the ground to a bolt under the dash. You can check for a good spot in the fuse box by using a multimeter. Put your positive probe in the empty fuse slot you want to check and put the negative on your ground spot, if you get ~12V when the key is on and 0V when its off, you've found a winner.

thanks for the idea i will try it and hope it works and ill let i you guys know!!

ok guys i got it! i just tapped into the ciggarete lighter and it works just fine! thanks for all the helpful ideas and all the help!

I tapped into the cigarette lighter.

This is a common practice. I am even guilty of doing this in the past, I feel ill when thinking about having done it that way. I have since found better methods which I outlined above.
