i bought a boost gauge for my 1997 eclipse gst but it flutters at idle i thought it was just cause it was a cheap gauge but once its warmed up it seems to be fine when it’s fluttering the car seems a bit more shaky? i think that’s the best way to describe it just wanted to see if anyone can tell me what’s going on? the high pitch sound in the video is the power steering added some after the video and went away.

Is this only at idle or when driving as well? Did it do this prior to the gauge/sensor being installed? Have you tampered with the sensors going to the ECU at all?

the car hasn’t been driven i bought the car beginning of the year and the engine was torn apart and i put it back together so i recently got the car started and drove it once and it didn’t do it while driving, but as i said when car is warmed up its normal. I installed the new gauge cause the old gauge wasn’t reading anything but it did have that shake to it just couldn’t see the flutter cause the gauge didn’t work and i have not touched anything with the ecu at all

What cams do you have? It seems you have very low intake vacuum, most likely because of vacuum leak or/and idle engine speed too low or/and incorrect valve timing.
Try to keep the throttle open slightly at idle to keep the engine speed a bit higher and see if the gauge stay at close to zero stably. If it does, the gauge is probably working as it should.

I’m not sure all i know is that the engine did have work done to it as in bigger pistons upgraded cams i asked the person who sold it to me for the information on it and i never received it. i wanna say i hear a hissing sound on the back of the engine where the throttle body is maybe vacuum leak? i also checked the timing a week back and everything was lined up where it should be.
