(first problem)I am having a series of problems. For one my exhaust manifold gasket is leaking really bad, also when the car is warm it screeches like a boost leak, but when warm it stops.

1) Could the exhaust manifold leak be cause a sound like this, and then once the metal expands it stops?
2) Is there a sure fire way not to break manifold studs when removing the manifold?

(Second problem)

I hooked up my logger and there were codes stored on it, one being barometric pressure, and the other intake temp sensor.

My question why isn't the check engine light on if these codes were picked up?

1. If bad enough, then yes it could possibly sound like that.
2. Unfortunately no. What I did, was a couple days before hand I sprayed WD-40, or liquid penetrating spray on them every day until taking the manifold off. Then make sure the car is warmed up before trying to break the bolts, the heat will help.

(Second Problem)
The previous owner could have removed the bulb that lights the check engine light.

when I start the car up or put the key on the check engine light comes on so its not possible that he pulled the bulb right?

And I always thought it was bad to pull bolts, plugs, or anything else from an aluminum head when its hot because the threads could stay behind.

The exhaust studs are a hit or miss. I've had plenty that the nut comes right off and a few that back them selves out once the nut is at the end. Only had one break and I didn't know it broke until I went to screw the nut back on :ohdamn:

Yes the sound could go away after it warms up. If you plan on taking off the manifold and want to check to see the leak. spray some wd40 just inside the exhaust ports and at the beginning of the manifold where it connects to the head. One that stuff heats up it'll smoke like crazy and you'll find any exhaust leaks you have. I found invisible hairline cracks that way.

I am having the same problem with the squeeling noise when cold , then it goes away. Im leaking oil from exhaust manifold, smoke comes out when I rev the engine, and the car drives slow not boosting past 0psi. did you get the problem fixed? do I need to change all of the gaskets or just exhaust
