so im going down to the parts store to get a boost gauge anyway and i want to get a boost controller off ebay but need to know..... if i wanted to crank my boost up to 14/15 lbs will that hurt anything?... ive been told that the factory setup can handle up to 16 lbs but my car has 160,000 miles on it and i just want to know if it is safe to run 15 lbs....is it going to strain my motor? sorry ive owned the car for two days and no nothing about turbocharged vehicles...

thanks

well i had a 2006 kx250 dirtbike for sale and he wanted to trade for the dsm strait up but this guy is a certified dealer who also has a 95 tsi for sale and a bunch of other misc. cars.... but anyway he told me that hes had the car for a year, he is the second owner and supposably the guy before him had just replaced the timing belt, and turbo and the clutch went out so he got frustrated and sold it to the guy i bought him from.... so then he put a new clutch and altenator in it... the timing belt looks ok....not new but in good condition.... the altenator look brand new and the transmission is really clean compared to everything else so i believ him bout the clutch.....

yesterday i changed the oil and filter, i took of the stock piping and intercooler and cleaned it all out with simple green and water, and i put new NGK plugs and wires on it.... also replaced the cracked oil cooler and broken front motor mount.... the car runs/ idles like a champ...

ive pretty much done the maintenence and the car runs perfect but with it having 160,000 miles im scared to crank the boost up a few notches... it builds 10 lbs now..... do you think cranking it up to 14/15 lbs would hurt it? i dont want to blow the motor or timing belt or anything.....

Well that sounds better off than most new2u cars. Only issue running more than 12psi is fuel cut, you'll know when it happens. Just don't beat on it too hard and you should be fine at 14psi.

If you set it at 14psi and lets say its 80* outside, hit boost when its cold out and you most likely will hit fuel cut =)
