I completely realize this is a late post, but Andy informed me of this very recently. I thought I might add to the discussion. I know this has been discussed before, but I cannot seem to find the link to support my statement:

Modifying Your Mitsubishi Powered DSM & EVO's 4G63
By David Peterson

Engine Management: Optimizing Modern Fuel and Ignition Systems
By Dave Walker

Maximum Boost: Designing, Testing, and Installing Turbocharger Systems
by Corky Bell

Turbochargers
By Betty MacInnes

A random interesting link I came across in my searching:

http://www.holset.co.uk/files/2_3_1-how a turbocharger works.php

I was hoping local bookstores would have those books, but I guess I'll have to order them online. Mark Warner rewote MacInnnes' "Turbochargers" book, so I'd look for that copy instead since it has lots of updated information.

Ah nice, another source for the dsm new... new dsmers. :) When I started all I relied on were my elders, vfaq, and rre. Now with these forums, its almost a sure thing you can find anything.

I also got lucky when a long time ago the entire service manual was available for download. :)

But more is better, I would like to take a gander at that book.

I agree. This book reminds me of another book for the 4G63 lovers:

Modifying Your Mitsubishi Powered DSM or Evo's 4G63
By David Peterson

The book can also be found on Amazon.com.

Click on the second link I gave and go down to the "Customer Reviews" section. You will find this:

I regret to buy this book although I own my 1g DSM since 1991. I would rather read these from internet (DSM community) to save my money.

I picked up the book last week and am about half-way in.

Not the best of writers as it reads like a patchwork of thoughts from multiple DSM Experts (which it is), without a whole lot added by the author except for some low level witticisms to keep the subject matter light. There are also a few obvious misstatements and errors in captioned pictures, but they are not really important.

Other than that, the book gives great history of DSMs and is an excellent compilation of Tech from the DSM Experts: Robert Young (Forced Performance), Mike Welsh (Road Race Engineering), David Buschur (Buschur Racing), Marco Passante (Magnus Motorsports), Various VFAQ Authors and many more.

Though most of this tech may not be new to those whom have been in the game for awhile, the book puts much into context as to why the experts went the route they did, which seems to have been lost over the years.

Definitely recommended :thumb: :dsm:

I know hard to believe right? Anyway the title of the book is "Mitsubishi & Diamond Star Performance Tuning" by Keith Buglewicz. It only cost 17 dollars so I said what the hell and went ahead and bought it. It seems like it just recently came out too because the publishing date is January 2007. Pretty nice book if I do say so myself. Anyway, just thought I'd put this out there for anyone who wants to add something to their DSM books library.

Awesome find! I might have to take a trip to Barnes and Noble tonight. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the info on here.

Well obviously this site is of far greater value than any book can provide. I only bought the book because it was cheap and I enjoy reading.

Nice find man! I'll definitely be going to Barnes and Noble in the morning.
I personally hate reading, but when its a subject that I love I can't put it down. i.e. Cars, DSM, Playboy. :sneaky:

Did anyone ever get that book that Buschur came out with a while back. It was supposed to be a little more in depth then your average tuner book. He wanted more then $10 dollars for it, so I didn't buy it LOL.

Ill have to go take a look at this book though

hey whats up. I got this book not to long ago and its awsome. its called
MITSUBISHI & DIAMOND STAR PERFORMANCE TUNING: a hands on guide for building the ultimate High performance Eclipse,Talon or Laser. It covers everything from how dsm were created to chooding the right one, power and performance by make and model. It has basic tuning like bolt-ons and has intermediate tuning like turbo systems and messing with boost ratios . It has every aspect of upgrading and has differetn choices and some gains you can expect. ITs like dsmtuners but in a book.

If you a newbie, just getting it DSM's ,very into Dsm's, this book is great and i reccomend picking it up. its by HPBOOKS author Keith Buglewicz its only $20. I picked mine up at Barnes & noble. i had to pre order it thought

Uh, that's the Buschur book. From what I've heard, not that great, especially compared to what you can find online.

Edit: The first one. I hadn't seen the second one before.
