So I am just did a fmic install and a boost leak test and I have no leaks, except for the bov but it doesn't leak till 20 psi. Then I drove the car the without realizing the wastegate actuator wasn't hooked up correctly so it was wide open. So like an idiot unaware of the wastegate problem I got on the car and there was a puff of black smoke and a pop, now I have no boost. I have checked for leaks and can't find any. I looked at the intake side of the turbo and there is no play/broken turbine. What could be causing no boost? I have the wastegate hooked up properly now, and still no boost, ughh I feel so stupid. Could my wastegate flapper be broken? Could my exhaust side of the turbo be messed up? I just can't figure it out and it saddens me. Also, if it is the wastegate flapper what is the easiest way to check that?

Any and all help welcome, THANKS!

The motor seems to be running fine, no smoke at idle except when I floor it "white smoke", but still no boost.

Ya, white smoke when I floor it and no boost, could my exhaust end of my turbo be gone? I think this turbo has about 180,000 on it but not what the last guy did so I doubt it sure. I bought a 16g and will install that sometime, but I really want to figure this out if it isn't the turbo. Should I just take the o2 housing off and check, is that the easiest way?

I did that and it spins just fine and doesn't have any play, I can check again in the morning, but any other ideas?

I had a stock turbo do something similar to that. I got on it one day and it pulled good then pow, no more boost plus white smoke. I limped home with a James Bonde smoke cloud and took out the turbo to find out that the turbine wheel had just snapped off LOL. If it were the turbine side + no boost, I would say there would be some chatter along with it (unless it is just a bad seal but the turbo will follow along with it soon enough).

Well I will look at it closer tomorrow and see, if it is just a bad turbo then it isn't a huge deal just more time and money.

Well, I looked at the intake turbine some more and it was fine. There was no play, no wobble and it spun freely. I was not bold enough to take off the exhaust side of the turbo, but I will be taking it to a mechanic friend soon. Could it be possible that the wastegate flap is just no longer attached inside the turbo?
