Ok so I was going to put on my hard uicp and when I took my stock pipe off I noticed fresh oil in the pipe. I took off the hose connecting to the throttle body elbow and the elbow had a line of fresh oil on it as well. So I took the intercooler off and soaked it in simple green. My Turbo has no shaft play at all. It holds 12psi fine and spikes at 15psi. I just bought a 14b and an install kit because I'm sure the Turbo is blown but I just want reassurance. Also my car has been burning oil for about two weeks now. I thought it was stem seals because after it idles for a few minutes it starts burning it. I was under the impression that if it was the Turbo it would be burning oil as soon as the car is started.

Check the j-pipe. If there's oil in the j-pipe/ compressor housing something wrong. How do you have your PVC system hooked up? A turbo can have no shaft play at all, but if one of the seals went bad it will leak.

The 14b isn't on the car I just ordered it. The stock t25 is on the car. I have a crankcase breather attached to a hose dropped down towards the transmission, not routed into the intake. No oil in the intake side of the Turbo, but the upper intercooler pipe was soaked in oil

after i pulled the hubby's old turbo off (it was definitely blown) i was finding oil everywhere. intake, intercooler pipes, all over the place. and that sucker smoked like it was going out of style. before it even really warmed up it would smoke a little in the driveway and as soon as you went anywhere it would billow everywhere. could be your turbo. but you say your smoke is blue-ish? i thought oil smoke was white

Rich = Black smoke (Unburnt Fuel)
Oil = Blue smoke (It's like running rich, but the oil's not supposed to be that much of the combustion process.)
Water = White ( It's steam right? )

Well I put my clean hard upper intercooler pipe on and cleaned out the intercooler with simple green. It doesn't smoke like it did before, but when it idled after I got home from work I was noticing smoke coming from the exhaust but it wasn't a lot so I couldn't tell what color it was.

I just have a feeling its still burning oil, I just can't tell because the smoke isn't as dense. My 14b should be here this week but I probably wont be able to put it on until after I move, as I will have huge amounts of garage space and will be able to attempt to change it myself.

Remove the breather and put the hose back to the intake. That's probably why your getting blow by into your UICP. Check out this link. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/366890-4g63t-pcv-system.html.

ok so i read most of that and what i got from it (correct me if im wrong) is that if its not connected to a vacuum source, or it doesnt recirculate into the intake, the pcv valve is left open, causing excessive oil to get into the upper intercooler pipe?

Yeah. As long as you have a correct PVC system you'll be OK. You can try to check you PVC valve to make sure it didn't go bad. If you would like something different that works better I suggest you do one of those other methods on that link.

IS there any like oil just sitting in the inlet of your turbo? if so that means your seals are broken and it would run really rich and smoke (not sure color) mine was doing this and it was definetly done bad shafplay and in and out. Id definitely check that aswel. correct me if im wrong though guys just speaking what happend to me.

There isn't any that I know of. Just the whole upper intercooler pipe was drenched, I first noticed it when changing blow off valves when I put the 1g bov on the stock pipe. The 2g bov was covered in oil. I got a hard upper pipe and saw how badly the stock one was drenched when I took it off. No shaft play at all holds boost fine.
