I'm not sure if I blew the turbo or not but here's the story. Last night I was coming home from work and I heard a clanking noise for about 2 seconds, kind of sounded like chains, this is at 10 mph in 1st gear. When I get closer to home I hear that same noise again, 40 mph 4th gear.

On the way home from school today I heard the same noise, 40 mph 3rd. I get home to check it out. Some smoke was coming out of the turbo area, white and oil was covering the ground, and my exhaust. This is my first turbo car so I'm not to sure what a blown turbo symptoms are.

I also didn't notice anything weird when driving it, but I never checked boost because I didn't think it would be the turbo.

I'll go check the exhaust now and I didn't check shaft play since I just got home and it's going to be hot.

I started it up let it idle for a little and no smoke. Should I rev it a little?

does it make a ringing noise kinda like an old phone ringing? my ca did the same thing and in fact was a blown turbo. but i didnt feel a diference at all, i drove like that for about 2500 more miles until i had enough money to buy another turbo. check for shaft play (remove the air filter intake and u can reach for the turbine with ## fingers, check to see if you can move it in and out)

No blue smoke, just a little bit of white. What would cause the oil spill all the way down my driveway and spread pretty far down my exhaust?

Also no shaft play out of the ordinary. Now it's making me think it's not the turbo. What would it be? Some sort of freak accident or something internal?

And no ringing noises. Sounds perfectly normal most of the time it was just those 3 periods or 2 seconds making a weird noise.

Can you find the source of the mess. Start it and let it run and start looking for leaks. It could also be a leak under pressure. Hard to say where its coming from or if its your turbo.

That doesnt sound very fun, I hope everything works out and you get the beast back on the road!
