So I believe I blew my motor tonight. I was taking a right turn and punched it up to a little past 5k, and it sounded like my whole motor just fell apart, like imagine a coffee can filled with marbles and rocks being shaken up, so I coasted to the side of the road. I was positive there would be pieces of block in the road behind me, to my surprise, there wasn't. The motor started smoking white smoke from the head, i noticed it most from the injector side. The car wouldn't turn over, but the battery and electronics all worked fine. I took out the dipstick and noticed ZERO oil on it. And I opened up the oil cap to take a quick look inside, and I saw what maybe a lifter? or something separate from the motor underneath a cam. Here is a picture,

I don't really know what to do at this point. But I am posting this bulletin to see if it might be a blown motor. Obviously it is impossible to tell for sure with my very vague description, but I was really hoping that this picture might be able to be described to me. Thank you.

Mind telling us what you were doing? How did you split apart the cast iron block?!?!? P.S: I like the color of your car.

Believe it or not, i was just taking a right turn from a stop, thought it would be funny to punch it a little bit, and then *BAM* my wallet exploded. I would say the wallet was pretty stretched as I have been using it quite a bit, and then it just couldn't hold on any more. But no, I was taking a right turn from a stop and probably took it up to 7 grand and then it let go. I have dsm link and it showed no knock at all, so I definitely wasn't expecting this to happen.

it could have been the push rod, or the connecting rod oil sleeve bolt. causing the whole and the rockers to pop the timing belt to shift, the pistons not to turn. check your push rods. also take the oil pan off and look for a missing bolt.

Double overhead cam engine much?
Push rods are for domestics, silly rabbit.

look around for a wrecked car. just pull the motor out of it for the cheapest option. Otherwise i'd say 6-bolt swap since your already in there. Things break when engines are starved of oil. (unless it all came out really quickly when pistons shards began flying around. LOL)

Sorry to see that. Probly the worst damage I have ever seen. Every time I see things like this, it makes me scared...

WOW i thought my 7 bolt blew up bad last year! when my piston shattered it just put a hole in the back of the block. The wrist pin split on mine and it broke the piston apart which then polished off the rest of the engine.

So my motor is complete, and in the car at this time. I've compiled a list of everything. I went with a 2.4l 4g64 6 bolt.

Bottom End:

2.4lt block bored .20 over

.20 over 2.4 Wiseco pistons

6 bolt Eagle rods

Mitsubishi 2.4 crank

Head:

ARP head studs

Cometic 87mm headgasket

stock head

supertech valves

stock cams

re-index 2.0l cam gears for 2.4l

Everything else is the same. Unfortunately two days after I had the car it stopped shifting into 2nd, 4th, and reverse. By "stopped shifting" I mean that it wouldn't go into said gears, as if there was something jammed in the transmission. I decided it would be a great idea to just keep driving it with 1st, 3rd, and 5th, because who needs 2nd and 4th with all that torque right? Well two days later I was driving it to my shop to see they could diagnose it (probably a stupid idea) and while I was taking a left the shifter was able to go down into second gear (or so I thought) but all that happened were revs, the car wasn't actually in gear. I quickly shifted to third (or what I thought was 3rd) and all I got was more revs when I stepped on the gas. So I pulled it out of 3rd and shoved it into 1st, then repeated this exercise until I started driving again. Then when it came time to shift, 3rd wasn't happening. The shifter at this point was moving all around the "gears" and staying put, not returning back to neautral. So I had it towed to the shop, where my mechanic told me my "shifter fork" was failing or it could be something else. Any ideas while I search this up?

Thats a suffice build. If you only would of kept us updated as kawboy said. But good luck. This time keep us posted.
