in order to blow the bov off in neutral you need to build some sort of pressure/boost. Most big turbos wont blow off in neutral (mine wont) but small ones, 14b, t25, 16g, etc will.

there was a thread a while back dat discussed this. Even some with T25, 14bs could not while others could. I've had a T25, and now a 14b with 1g bov and I still cant.Unless im mistaken, i dont recall them finding out the cause of this.

Try running a bit richer? More fuel = more exhaust gas = faster spool, but less hp. Also, your turbo could simply have more bearing resistance than your buddy's.

Which makes me wonder how easy it is to vent off a ball-bearing turbo, in neutral.

Also, what vac level does your BOV open at?

well duh ball bearings spool faster

Okay, this may cause pain: Stop and think. What is boost? It's "more air than can get into the engine". The turbine has to be pumping air faster than the pistons will let it into the combustion chambers. It's very hard to do when there's no load on the engine, and it can just run away from whatever boost is trying to be made. It's very hard on an engine to free-rev it to start with, and all that much more hard on it when it's being boosted. However, it is an excellent method for spinning rod and/or balance shaft bearings.

Stop trying. And, find brighter friends.

the only intelligent post in this thread. just dont worry bout how to do it unless like defiant said u wanna for some reason build a new motor. probably wouldnt do it for a while anyways, but who wants to be really hard on their motor just to hear a bov sitting still. JMO
