I tried and broke a oil dipstick heater so you don't have to!
there are quite a few options for block heaters, in my opinion freeze plug install options are the best, but feeling cheap and cold in the inland northwest I decided to try other easy cheap options.
Types: dipstick, freeze plug, flex mat, inline water, inline heater core water, magnetic
option 1:
I got a dipstick oil heater from Napa 90watt for 20$, it's in a hallow metal tube that drops into your oil dipstick neck. results are not good for a 2g. the bends in the oil dipstick tube bent and crushed the thing and then I jammed it in and it actually broke through the metal..
coukd you make a custom minimally bent oil stick tube perhaps...
option 2:
kats magnetic heater 200w
they have two designs a 400w larger and a 200w smaller one I purchased the smaller unit and I'll take a look tonight and report back later once I find a good location to stick it and hopefully it even does something.
