Kelowna,
ok do new heater cores come with internal plugs? im getting no heat and everything has checked out and the coolant system blead. both heater core hoses are hot . All I can figure is that there was plugs inside the heater core that I didnt remove?

dunno, but mine stopped making heat, and it ended up that i just had to stand in front of the car with it idling adding water and coolant slowly for about as long as it took to get all the bubbles to come out. took about 2 cig's worth of time, or around 10min. i thought i had all the air out but was wrong, this fixed it for me.

There are flaps behind the dash that direct the air through or around the core. If you put the heat on it goes through . AC goes around. can you hear them moving when you turn the nob?

Even though you said you just installed a new heater core, has your car been sitting outside or in a garage below 20 degrees for a while???

What coolant/water % mixture are you running?

If it has been cold (duh...), you could easily have a frozen heater core, and will end up splitting the heater lines from built up pressure. Be sure to inspect your heater lines for damage, softness, etc. Just be careful since the heater core has BRASS a inlet/outlet and they are extremely soft. You want to be extremely careful when removing these hoses, and should use a hose pliers (curved head) or a hose removal pick tool to inspect them.

I just had this problem on Saturday with my Eclipse that has been sitting for a couple months. I ended up blowing my upper heater hose, leaving about a gallon of brand new coolant/water wetter/water mixture all over my engine bay (which I had just finished detailing).

My car had been sitting in a garage around 10-20 degrees air temps with -10+ outside temps. It was fine for about 10 minutes, then I blew a hose....
