I just bought a 95 GS-T for $750. Obvious catch is, the engine was skrewed. Okay, I have the engine out and the head off, the head looks ok (will have it checked/decked in a little bit). The interenals (as far as crank, rods, pistons) look fine, the cylinder walls look a bit F#&ed. I am attempting a cheap build (nothing fancy its going to be for a friend).

Is the 2g block (or similar enough to use 2g internals) used in anything else besides the Eclipse GST and GSX, even if its a 1.8 and needs to be bored (actually would work out better that way). I don't want to bore out the engine block I have right now because then that would require new pistons, and well, might as well get new rods while I am at it (When I get a GSX, that will be the route I take). Any help would be appreciated.
 
Can't you just bore the block and buy a set of overbore pistons? Factory 2g pistons aren't that expensive.

That's what I would do, otherwise you're letting a whole block go to waste.
 
If the bore is screwed up I would almost gurantee that the pistons are wasted too. I had one hole in my block sleeved to match the .020 bore that I had it punched to. Sleeving actually helps strenthen the bore and works just fine.
The cost of the sleeve was almost as much as finding another block and hoping it was good. Might be a decent alternative if you have a machinist that you trust.
 
CR on all 1g are 7.5:1
To the OP : just buy a 6bolt short block or complete engine or just bore the block .020 over and put new pistons and rings thats the cheapest way.
 
Well, I might actually get away kinda cheap, I found someone that is willing to part with a block that is in excellent shape (even had the deck planed), for 150 and for 125 more he'll throw in the crank (its been turned), bearings, and a bunch of other stuff (will see what all that composes of).
