I’m in the process of doing the jays racing alternator relocation and I cannot find the black and yellow wire that activates the light on the dash. Id just like to know where it is routed, passenger side or driver side and which wire loom it should be in so I don’t have to tear everything apart trying to locate this wire. It is not connected to the original dsm alternator plug , thanks!

Are you referring to the relay by the ecu? Has the black/yellow and black/red?
I don’t believe it’s that one , there is the plug with 4 wires that plugs into the alternator , one of them is black and yellow(blue on some models) and It is the one that triggers the dummy light on the dash and also tells the alternator to turn on and charge. I was tucking some wires and soldering the new plug on for my gm alt and I cannot find that black and yellow wires that goes to the alternator plug. I am trying to track it down to wire it into my new plug for my gm Alternator. In this picture I think it is blue on that model but on my 2g Gsx it is black with a yellow stripe.

There is also the generator relay (not a relay) that I believe factory location is by your oem boost solinoid. I believe. That wire runs under your rad support. They all kinda go together. I'll try and find my manual in the morning to give more accurate information. I actually never worried about the dummy light since the battery light also comes on.

Okay yes that’s what I’m looking for, I will check under the rad support in that wire loom. Do you know if it comes from the driver side behind the headlight down under the rad or from the firewall on the passenger side?

And I wasn’t gonna worry about hooking up that wire but the more I read the more I realized I need it actually. It tells the alternator to begin charging when turning the key so without it my alternator wouldn’t work correctly from what I understand. Correct me if I’m wrong

From the 2g diagrams: The black-yellow wire on the alt is blue if there is no generator relay. In either case whether black-yellow or blue, it goes to the generator relay plug. From there it is blue going to the dash charge, A/T Temp (awd), and brake lamps.

Yes, the last owner must of got rid of the generator relay plug and now I’m trying to trace this wire , it’s black and yellow and the plug for the generator relay is not on the harness anywhere . I’m trying to find close to the origin of the black and yellow wire so I can run a new wire or solder to the old one

I don't have my 95 FSM's handy so I'll have to use a poor unknown 2g vintage charging circuit diagram along with the '95 configuration diagrams. The wire you're chasing ends at A-03 where it plugs into the alternator and starts back at the ignition switch. In the process it goes to B-75 on the Junction block and to A-40 the alternator relay (generator relay).

Since the alternator and the alternator relay are to different sides of the engine bay I'm assuming the wire runs under the radiator and then along the right side into the cabin.

I found the blue wire that starts at the generator relay , that should be the wire I want I believe.

The diagram has a splotch on the scan but it's either Black/Yellow or Black/White for the power to the relay and Blue from the gauge cluster to the Alternator.

These are two different power sources for the initial powering of the alternator's field coils.
The one from the cluster causes the light to go on and the "generator relay" output (a resister and diode to block the reverse current) makes sure the field coil gets power if the light burns out.

Okay so I get the generator relay plug and can put it back on( do you know where I can get one at ?) or make sure I have a back up switched 12v to power on the alternator field coil if my dash light burns out ?
