My biss will not come out. it screws out so far than stops I tried to use a flat head screwdriver to slide down under the head to pull/pry it up and it didn't work any suggestions?

I'm trying to get it out to put a new o ring on.

I guess I have an older one... I would have just torn that thing up by now if it was plastic...but no..it is definitely a metal screw. I suppose I will hit up a tool store to see if I can grab that bit. But for kicks...lets keep the methods of how to remove frozen/stuck screws and bolts going. This could be very useful to others when finding out that many of the bolts and nuts (I dont know about you guys, but mine is 15 years old and hardly budges in places) will typically be stuck or stripped to hell. Thanks again guys for the helpful posts!

Or, if none of those suggestions suit you, there is a bit called a "Grabbit" that drills a hole with one end then you flip it and the reverse corkscrew type end "grabs it" and pulls it out. They sell it at lowe's for $10. It saved my ass when all else failed.

No, don't drill all the way through.
That Grabbit sounds like the tip to use.

To re-seal the screw once it's set, spray the top of the screw and all the visible threads in the bore with WD-40 so the next slug of silicone seal won't be able to adhere to the metal. It'll still seal air perfectly well, as well as prevent the screw from backing out and getting lost.

I have the exact same issue...does anyone know where i can get a metal biss...i put on a new throttle body, tried to adjust the idle and the thing got stripped to hell on 1 turn.....car has a horrible idle due to this....

Andy's idea is definately the easiest, and probably the best, but to make it a little bit easier, you should take a torch to the TB and heat it till it starts to glow a little, and that will expand the metal, and make it a lot easier to take out.

taking the TPS off the throttle body of coure right? It wouldn't be good to get that thing near extreme heat right? Are you suggesting heating it, then using some grabbit tool?

If you can find a throttle body you can get hot enough to glow, I want to see it.

DO NOT TRY THIS. :nono:

So, i've got a leaky BISS as well and i tried unscrewing it out all the way in order to replace the o-ring... but couldn't get the BISS out. Is there some trick to this or what? I tried using a magnet but then realized the screw was plastic. What am i doing wrong or how do i get this thing out of here?? Thx

Take some duct tape with the sticky side, press on the screw and it should come out. That's what I did. :)
Good luck.

If you have stuff for a boost leak test just pressurize and it'll pop out, make sure you put something on it to catch it though.

I had the same problem. I used an "L" shaped pick and hooked it under the head of the biss screw while turning it....came right out

+1 for the boost leak test method. or just turn the car on..and have your friend get on the gas to build some boost while you keep your hand over the BISS and catch it

I just bought a new BISS screw, o-ring and cap to replace my current capless screw that's in there. The problem I'm having is that this will only unscrew so far, and doesn't just come out like it looks like it should. Is there something else I should be doing? I was wondering if I was going to have to take the TB elbow off to pop it out, or if I just need to file the top edge so that the screw comes out. Let me know if anyone else has run into this before.

Did you try using a magnet to get the screw to stick to the screwdriver and pull it out that way? It hangs up on the oring a little bit. If all else fails hook up your boost leak tester and put a rag over the hole the biss is in and blast it out with air, if you have a compressor handy.

Drill a small hole into the middle of the Biss screw (about 1/4" - 1/2", not all the way through), find a screw that is a little bit bigger than the hole then screw it into the hole. Use a pair of pliers and pull. The Biss screw should come out. The o-ring is what is holding it in. I have done this a couple of times and has worked each time.

Also, if you have a boost leak tester, you can use that to pressurize your system and the Biss screw should pop out. Just be careful in case it goes flying. (Sorry, already suggested. I type too slow.)
