Big Problem after 1g tb install

you could have a pretty bad boost leak coming from the throttle body. check to make sure the throttle body is on tight, and then do a boost leak test and see if any air comes out from that area. also check your shaft seals

Agreed, most likely a boost leak.

1) Did you use new 1G gaskets? Did you position the TB-IM gasket correctly. There is a tab that should be on top and towards the back/firewall when it is oriented correctly.

2) Double check your vacuum lines and make sure you reconnected the sensors.

3) If the boost leak test reveals leaking at the gaskets you can use a thin bead of RTV silicone on both sides of the gaskets to help seal it.

ok, ill do a boost leak test, also i lost the screw to tighten my negative battery cable, could this casue the problem also.

Yes it could. If your voltage is cutting out due to a poor connection then all of the cars electronics (ECU, injectors, sensors, etc.) are momentarily shutting down. You might want to address that first and see if it fixes the problem.

Not that too many people are helping me or care but just to let you know i was stupid and left a ic coupler un done.... Im stupid. There is still a leak.. Is it posible to leak from the tps? Not sayingg it is I cant pin point it. Just want to know if its possible. Oh and thanks romeen for the help so far.

I think it may be possible to leak from the TPS but I'm not positive and it isn't common if it can happen. If it's a 1G TB that has never had the shaft seals replaced then that would be a more likely culprit. Repeat the boost leak test. While the system is pressurized rotate the throttle butterfly by hand and listen to see if the pitch of the escaping air changes. If yes then you have a shaft seal leak. These are pretty common. I'll find you the link on how to fix it. While your doing the leak test spray all couplers, gasket areas, etc with soapy water and look for the bubbles to identify the leaks.

Also, aren't the inner edges of the 2G gaskets partially blocking the airflow through the TB? If so then that is kind of defeating the purpose of upgrading to the larger TB. I haven't done a 1G TB swap on a 2G but I am assuming this would be the case since the 2G TB is smaller. Although new gaskets are generally recommended I have reused them without any problems. I like to use a small amount of the Ultra Copper RTV on both sides of the gaskets (the copper is much easier to remove if need be and is sensor safe). But use it only if necessary.

Keep chasing down and fixing those boost leaks.:thumb: You'll get there.:)

It isnt the tps, just found out. I did re use the gasket. Theres a pin hole of air gushing out right by the tps, so I just used some silicone sealant for now. I bought a 1g gasket. I just neded to get this done becsaue i Am leaving for college tomorrow... Thabks for the help guys, oh and that link would stillb e very appreciated.

I was going to reuse my 'modified' stock 2g gaskets but after not getting them to the right msmt. I just went and bought 2 new gaskets at the local o'reilys. Did you get it running?

you really need to put the 1 g throttle body gasket in there. the 2g stock gasket is set up for a
52mm opening. where as the 1g is a 60mm opening. you are restricting the airflow, not to mention if for some reason the gasket tears and enters the motor youll be SOL

Well you can always port the stock gasket to 60 mm. But to save the hassle just buy oem ones made for the 1g tb.
