I need better exhaust valves.
The short story is that my motor has been losing compression lately, the most recent compression test showed #2 cylinder was down to 135psi on a 8.5:1 motor. It had 175 to 180 psi when new.
I took the head off and found the exhaust valves were not sealing very well.
Currently I have stainless swirl polished valves in the head. I did a little research and found sodium filled valves and Inconel valves that fit our motors. Can anyone recomend one valve over another? Thanks.

I'm sure you've come across the natrium-filled Evo 8 OEM valves. Something I'm looking into. Click here to find out more. They're a direct fit for the DSM heads, at least for the 2Gs. Not sure what the stock valve size for the 1Gs are.

Even Evo owners upgrade their valves to SS. ;) What's the weight of your current valves?

I'm not worried about losing weight in the valve by going with evo8 valves, although it would be nice. At this point I'm looking for durability. I'm also looking at the valve seats, maybe they're feeling the effects of the heat, too? I think the motor is just tired from a couple years worth of high power and trial-and-error tuning.

Now that I've taken another look at my old exhaust valves, I wonder if I can have them resurfaced? Do a valve job and slap it back together.
