Hey,
this is actually a long term question.

The thing is:
I got my car inspected and got the turbo swap legalized.
I'm from Germany so that wasn't very easy because the TÜV isn't someone who isn't willing to allow modficated cars to drive on the road.

Right now I'm running a Evo3 16G.
So in the official TÜV-report it says: "TD05H Evo3 Turbo" ... 250hp, 155mph topspeed.

The problem is: If you get pulled over by the cops the often check the report and compare it to the car.

Right a few days before I got the car tagged I realized that I may reached the limit of the turbo.
(running 31Psi peak falling to 23psi at 8000rpm , ported turbo, ported Evo3 manifold, 2.5" exhaust, E85, 850ccm injectors, 255lhp walbro, FP2 cams. Evo8 Ecu with custom tune, should produce 370+hp).

I want the get every little bit right in 2012... but what after that?
The power output is something the police can not check, but they will check if the housing says: TD05H.

So can you name the biggest turbo in a TD05H Housing?
A 20G?
FP 68HTA?

Or is the best way to mod a TD06H cover to wear a TD05H writing? ;)
And how streetable are these turbos? Its still a street car, running the dragslip just twice a year.

Thanks guys :)

There are two answers to this question..

The 68hta does say td05h..And is a very nice stock appearing turbo...But price is an issue..If not have at it..

You could always get a 14b or 16g machined to fit the 20g wheel inside the tdo5h housing...Price is going to be alot cheaper going with this route than it is to buy the 68hta..Although shipping from America is going to kill you...

Both turbo's are very streetable..And should not spool much later than the evo3 you already have..A little bit, but not much..

IIRC Justin built a 16G with a 3076 compressor wheel, I've always wondered if it would offer anything over a 20G/68HTA. Hopefully he'll chime in on it.

Not to knock Justin in any way..But I beleive he has to send the turbo's out to be machined..At least that's what the guy who does the machining told me..

Shipping isn't cheap but you don't want to see german turbo prices.
The cheapest turbos you can buy here, are straight imports from extrempsi or forced performance.

On FPs website: Forced Performance Turbochargers: FP 68HTA for DSM
it says TD05H on the FP 68HTA.

That's what I said In post #2..ROFL

This is what I would do if I were you.
Turbo Compressor Housing TD05H + Wheel 20G DSM 1G EVO 3 | eBay

For only $170 You get the already machined TD05 cover and 20g wheel. A nice upgrade and still a kick in the pants from the TD05 turbine wheel. With the TD06 20g its more gradual torque curve.

If the wheel is not a typical ebay turbo item then maybe thats a good price..

But for double that..You could have the whole turbo already machined, with wheel, and rebuilt..The only thing after that would be shipping to europe..

They sell the covers alone for $99 plus shipping. Thats cheaper than paying a 100 just for the machining and shipping both ways from and to Germany. The wheel shouldnt be a problem anyways. Its the bearings and machining tolerances are out of whack. The wheels should be just fine. If not, buy genuine mitus for a ton more I suppose.

Justin usually has 8 bagillion rebuild items laying around..I'm sure he has what you need, and since he buys in bulk..They are really cheap..

But last time I asked him, he had no good turbine housings laying around..

Yeah just keep asking him he could help or austin cole he rebuilds turbos to.

pj91gsx..Yes he does machining and rebuilds of turbos..Pretty cheap I might add, even for the machining and 20g wheel..

This question may sound stupid.
If I would get the cover an wheel of ebay or somebody, is the wheel itself balanced? Or do I need to rebalance it with the whole shaft?
I have no clue why, but here in germany they charge prices for balancing that are sky high.

Just changing the wheel and cover would be an very easy task maybe if no rebalance is needed it could be done without removing the turbo at all?

The 68HTA and 20G are the two largest compressors you should be using on a TD05H turbine. Anything more and you're gaining lag which won't necessarily translate into airflow due to the turbine restriction.

The 20G compressor is more affordable, the 68HTA is more efficient...you choose what best fits your requirement.

There are no stupid questions...And I actually don't know the answer to that question, so thats where I'm going to stop..

But I have good news..If you read post #14, and contact that person..He will be able to help you out..But again not be able to help you out on shipping to europe..

Accentually the main shipping problem is that most Americans don't want to ship to Europe. But it works the same way as shipping to new york or dallas ;)

shipping small parts isn't any problem. USPS ships would ship a wheel for 30 bucks or something similar. Shipping the engine block was kinda pricey (got it 6 years ago and cost 1000 bucks for shipping only).

They thing is that it doesn't need to spool fast.
Its a FWD car, running semi slicks. (Federal 595RSR)
How high would I have to rev to make power with an 20G compared to the 68HTA?

I wasn't planing of revving more than 8.5k because its a streetcar.

Well the 20g and 68hta will give you more top end boost pressure..Unlike the 16g where boost tapers off alot more at higher revs..

But As I understand it..Both turbo's will make boost by 4k..

Unless Justin See's a problem with this post..I would ask that he chime in and tell me different..

Maybe for YOU it's like shipping from NY to Dallas, but for ME International Shipping is becoming a complete pain in the ass and I'm getting to the point where I'll refuse to do it.

Perhaps it's just that I'm getting fed up with the Postal Service more and more, but from my experience the pricing is never the same on the USPS website as it is when you get to the store to actually ship it. Everything costs additional- tracking, insurance, etc...where all of that is included with UPS.

I know USPS is ripping me off on weight- today I dropped a box off at the post office which I weighed personally on our UPS scale at my workplace....and the jagoff tried telling me the paid amount was too light by 1lb 10oz. Yeah, right- like UPS has been willfully accepting boxes that are off by 2lbs for the entire time I've worked here. So I stood there and waited 5 minutes or so for him to figure everything out on his end and paid the whopping 75 cents difference. I'm just getting to the point where unless you're a US resident and a UPS truck can drive from me to you, I don't want to be bothered.

Really, it's sad that there are no affordable and easy-to-use shipping services that allow me to do business with customers in other countries.

Sorry I didn't want to piss you off.
I did sent a lot of stuff to the US and got used/new parts from the US.
As long as the data is correct I never heard of any problem.
The only thing that is problematic is if there is no value on the package than it takes a few weeks until the customs send me a letter to pick it up an bring a receipt.

The posting service here doesn't get worse when you do international shipping, its just getting expansive.
Also you can order large packets from the US and they do deliver... but you can't send the same size back to the US?
I think the problem with USPS is just local some shops don't make problems others do.
But I personally don't have a problem paying a few bucks more than the regular USPS shipping price just in case of trouble ;)

UPS is that much more expansive that this extra bucks do still save money.

I don't get the international shipping prices at all. Shipping to the US is VERY expansive, shipping from the US to EU is expansive but shipping from china right to my door is cheaper than shipping something to the next town?? ...

But lets not make this a shipping discussion ;)

Off topic: Is there E85 available in germany? I'm moving to Geilenkirchen next May and I'm bringing my GVR4 with me.

Show me how you fit a fully-assembled turbo into one of those piece-of-shit boxes that are slightly thicker than notebook paper. They're the perfect size to fit nothing into. I'll bet the USPS researched quite a while to come up with a box size that fits nothing.

OHH MY GOD..I just noticed you were from europe...

CAN YOU FIND ME A SET OF 92-94 ECLIPSE TAILIGHTS WITH THE AMBER CORNERS?
For Christ's sake, Bud....send the guy a PM.
