I'm currently in the process of swapping my stock 2G turbo with a TD05H 16g turbo and I still have the stock SMIC set-up. What would I need to make this work?

Think again. If your crank sensor failed, the car won't even turn over. The cam position sensor is what tells the ecu when to fire the sparks... It could be a couple other things too, but I don't think your crank sensor is the problem if it'll turn over.
This is not true. My crank sensor was broken by a shop. Car started but had no power at all.
WTF
If I walk outside and unplug the crank sensor, jump in, and turn the key... No crank. I haven't seen one partially fail. I suppose it is possible...
