Best bolt-on BB turbo for a 1G?

I'm sure the pros have fielded this question a thousand times but I'm having problems finding a BB turbo that will bolt right up to my 4G63 without a lot of manifold mods and such. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

go under there turbochargers section and check out the precision mitubishit turbos...they bolt right up to the manifold, and they are REAL precision turbos. even bolts up to the stock downpipe plate...they have 450HP to 680HP turbos, even offer then with internal wastegates. make sure you look for the bb one

You should try Comp Turbo. They make the new Triple BB Turbo's. There T3 an T4 flanged tho. Which if your looking to get good power an flow that's the way to go. Comp Turbo

If you refer to his origional post, he specifically states he's looking for a bolt on turbo, without mods to the manifold, etc.

What is you budget & what are your goals? I would recommend the FP (forced performance) series of "bolt on" turbo's but they do require additional mods such as vband O2 housing (which can be purchased from them) & 44mm Tial vband external gate. This will easily put you over the 2K range, but if you were thinking about going with an external WG this may be a route to consider. These will bolt up to a stock/stock style exhaust mani.

For other BB bolt on turbos you can look a PTE or Bullseye. They both offer a bolt on style turbine housing for our cars & can be had with an internal WG, if thats what your after. As for size, that really depends on your goals....

Any reason you're only looking into ball bearing? There are still plenty of good journal bearing turbos out there that bolt up to the stock manifold.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. The reason why I'm looking for that specific type of turbo is because my car has a rebuilt short-block but it still has the original 14b turbo that has about 180k miles on it. I drive the car really hard and it still pulls pretty good, but I'm just trying to prepare for the inevitable. My research has indicated that BB turbos are more durable than the journal type, and spool-up a little quicker. Is this correct for the most part? I plan on upgrading the intake, exhaust, fuel system, and turbo all at the same time, along with methanol injection and an upgraded EPROM chip. I'm looking for about 400-500 streetable horses when I'm through with the build.

I'm biased but I say go holset. They have larger thrust bearings, are designed to run at high boost on diesel motors for tons of miles, spool very quickly for their size, and are cheap as hell even with buying the BEP (Bullseye Power) housing for them. An HX35 would get the job done for you or if you want to go a little bigger there is the the HX40 as well.

random stupid question, but wouldn't a 16g or 20g bolt straight up as well? or do they need different manifolds (or are they journal-bearing type???)? Iwas also looking into bb-turbos, sufficing for 16g/20g, but I was aiming more for 420hp and 500~ torque.

16g and 20g would be a direct bolt-on to the stock manifold. Both are journal bearing.

FP turbos will bolt to the mani, but you would need a custom o2 housing and downpipe that can get expensive. PTE is what I would look at. If you are looking for as much flow possible with a pte bolt on look at the 6152e. It has made some very good numbers.
