Broke the 3-4 shift fork. Only about $20-$30 part and usually doesn't hurt anything else since the pieces that broke off are aluminum. Usually splits right around the roll pin.

I hope that's all it is, my buddy was even saying it may even be the shift fork roll pin broke, we will know soon. Towing it to the garage tonight. Just kinda sucks since my buddy over hauled the trans a few months ago, but only thing i upgraded was 4spider diff and double syncros in second. Racing on a budget sometimes leads you to broken parts.

Damn, oh well. Stop shiftin the car like your pissed off.

I don't think so, but that's something i'm looking in to this go around. I pulled the trans this evening and threw it on the work bench. Looks like Wednesday we'll be tearing it down.

Yup, you nailed it. This is exactly what happened.

Be careful on the 2-3 shift once you do a double roll pin mod. Next thing to break is a shift rail. I don't know what your trans bidget or build level is, but if it was shifting into 3rd and 4th poorly, I'd recoomend shimming the input shaft a little tighter, and swapping in some new "old" style fiber lined synchros into 3rd and 4th. I also used a dremel to enlarge the oil channels in them just a bit. I had brand new hub slider, new style synchro's, and all of the other stuff, and it still shifted like garbage.

With the old synchro's and a bit of preload it shifts much much better. I could almost clutch less upshift it.
