How is everyones bep holset ss housing holding up?
Is there any of them rusting?
### I'm wondering if I should get mine ceramic coated?

Not sure how much you know about metals but Stainless Steel does not rust....it oxidizes.....
Now ifs if fake stainless steel it will rust....Take a magnet to it. if the magnet is attracted to it its crappy, likewise its good...

Well I'm just wondering if I should get my bep housing coated one not?
### in a year or two I don't want it to be the ugliest thing on the car.
### I already have my new fp manifold ceramic coated gloss black

High quality SS isn't magnetic.
I work with metals a lot at my job.....Lets say you got 2 different types of cooking pots. Both say stainless steel on them....one is magnetic the other isnt.....the non magnetic one is quite a bit more expensive to buy.
The magnetic one pays crappy prices when cashed in, where as the non magnetic one pays the full ss pricing....there has to be a reason 2 things say stainless but pay 2 completely different prices....

I dont consider oxidation as rust due to I've never had a problem with bolts getting stuck in ss even when oxidized....where as steel, well we all know what steel is like when it rust....pita to get things apart...

To the OP I would personally get the housing coated for a few reasons....keep oxidation to a minimum, keep heat in the exhaust which in turn makes it faster flowing, makes the overall appearance nicer....

2 companies that i know that do great work are Swain Tech and JET HOT

okay as soon as it comes in the mail ill send it to get coated:D

so i wanna see pics of all your housing to see how they look!

Carbon steel goes from this (my h1c setup):

As you can, tell back in the day, I didn't care about looks too much with the 60-1. But whever I wanted to show my h1c setup, I had to pull it off and media blast it to bring back the luster. I sorely wish I ahd gone with stainless. And/or coated the housing.

I think he was refering to the quality SS required to have a turbine housing not rust over time. . . There's different grades of SS. Low response to a magnetic field is a higher grade SS (more nickle I believe: which alters the steels magnetic response). It's certainly not suprising to see SS in wal-mart cookware not be of very high grade. I bought a cheap wok from wally and it's now rusty on the inside base LOL

Oxidization isn't necessarily rust, but rust IS oxidization.

(Hence the name Iron oxide)

cool thanks for the pics!
so my fp mani, turbine housing and center CHRA is getting coated,
my chra was all rusty so i sent my wheels to be balanced and in the meantime i stripped it completely to get it blasted and coated!
and my fp intake and oil lines showed up too so sometime this week my tial mvs and recirculated o2 housing will show up:D

I think a Fp mani, Bep Housing, 02 housing ceramic coated gloss black..meeting up to a Chrome Punishment DP, and on the other side a polished Compressor cover is pure sex

and there are different grades of SS..but take the punishment-racing downpipe for example, from what I saw, they used High grade Stainless for the actual tubing, and the the flanges were not high grade SS by any means. I mean, they will rust eventually.

But then again, SS flanges are very expensive.

On another note, Ive had to weld stainless tubing on to a Shoddy stainless flange, I used stainless 309 to bead it up, the flange on this guys manifold rusted to shit. but my beads still look great, and i always point them out :p
