hey dsm2ners....sorry to bother ya'll again. as some of you know my car is in the shop because as i was driving down the interstate the timing belt whipped off. well that was like 2-3 weeks ago and the mechanic still hasn't gotten to it. but i'm tryin to come up with options. as of now i figure most def a valve(s) are bent, but the mechanic also said that the valve may have messed with the piston. he said if that's the case it may need a new engine. is there a possiblility if that occurs, couldn't i just replace the pistons w/ forged and get new valves? or would the valve messin with the piston have messed up the wall or what? i'll keep ya'll posted. i'm suppose to find out today or monday about the engine cause he's gonna try and get to it today....thanks again guys

If it did happen to gouge a piston, yeah, you can just replace them and have it balanced.

My buddy just kinda did the same thing..The timing was off and screwed up the valves..Well the pistons were not bad..So he replaced the head with one with good valves..Reset the timing back to what I was supposed to be..And is having no problems with the engine afterwards..

So just replacing the head cold work, as long as the pistons are ok..
