Bent valves.......again

Why did it bend valves again? I would be more interested in that than anything else.

I would want to prevent this from happening again. Let us know and maybe we can help stop this cycle.

I replaced the auto tensioner months back but not the eccentric tensioner, ran out of cash, then completely forgot about it. I was having some low oil pressure before it happened, so the oil pump was ###### trying to tell me womething was up. also I've bent them before and usually when this happens it will run till you bring it down to idle, then it dies, but this time it didn't die until i turned it off, then i got the crank of death, the good ole "no compression" freewheel sound. so since it didn't die on its own i tried to just buy both tensioners from a local Mitsu shop my Parts manager used to work at. and we lined up the marks and still nothing, so thats it, ###### just that bad tensioner, P.S. not sure if the eccentric was ever replaced till I did it. ok thats all

I'd bet you anything you didn't do it properly. If you install the tensioner properly you won't bend valves. The eccentric tensioner pulley you are reffering to may get some wobble or looseness to it, but unless it completely seperates into 2 or more pieces it won't cause you to bend valves. You didn't properly tension the belt and it jumped a few teeth. Thats it. You can get a used head for really cheap ... most likely not much more than you are going to be spending on yours to have it repaired.
