So on my way back home from about an hour drive I noticed my car was doing like a whine whenever I would turn or crank my wheel one way or the other, so I thought it wasn't too big of a problem and hopped on the interstate drove an hour but then progressively through the night driving it then whine seemed worse and a bit louder and it was to the point when sitting at a light i could feel it under my feet.

I got home and looked at my belts and they seemed fine and they have about 6k miles on them since last replaced, when I shut the car off I lightly tugged on them and none of them seemed to be loose, I'm to the point worrying if one of them is going to break or not when I'm driving.

Wondering what you guys are thinking it might be?

Also, I'm in the midst of looking for a new one but I have a small crack in my valve cover by the spark plugs and its seeping oil small amounts at a time when I drive and noticed the other day when I'm sitting at light and then when I accelerate a small cloud of blue smoke comes out, could the oil burning be from the crack in the valve cover or something more?

Check your lower ball joints. Since you are saying you feel it under your feet when you turn your wheel is making me think your lateral control arm ball joint is about to separate. I wouldnt keep driving it until you make sure that ball joints are good. You dont want them to seperate while your driving down the road.

If the whining gets a bit louder when you turn the wheel it is most likely your power steering pump.
If it were the lateral control arm or compression arm ball joints they will usually cause thumping type noises when hitting bumps and your steering will not feel right.(had same issue in GS and GSX) Not sure what years this pertains to but there is a recall on lateral control arms. Mitsu just replaced both laterals on my 96 GSX for free. Mitsubishi ECLIPSE Recalls - DealerRater

First check power steering fluid level.

yea i would check your power steering pump. It might be going out!

He said he felt a thump while turning at a stop. That and a loud squeak would be the ball joint. I have had 2 break on me, the 2nd time it start squeaking while i was driving then later that night it broke on my way home. It went from a small whine when turning at a stop to a loud squeak over bump and while driving .

It could be low on power steering fluid but you would felt any clunking under your feet from that.

I agree to a clunk and squeak being control arm. Call dealership and check recall. otherwise rockauto.com has moog which I put in my GS and they are nice and solid.

quick check if it's the ball joint is to spray some LPS into ball joint boot, if noise goes away that's your problem.

You can buy a OEM knuckle kit from extremepsi aswell for $109 a side. It comes with both LT. control arm and compression arm and a knuckle. It a great deal when you think about the compression arm and knuckle being over $200 each if bought separately.
